Our stand with the NAACP extends the Memorandum of Understanding signed with NPHC in 2011. Activities – Educational workshops on the inner workings of the entertainment industry • In collaboration with the NAACP Hollywood Bureau – Facilitated discussion with the local media “Building on the Principles of Zeta While Blazing New Paths” Public policy • Educating our chapter members and communities on current policy proposals, and how these proposals could be implemented. – Please note that Zeta will not take a position on these issues. This event is to raise awareness about different policy proposals. NOBLE is the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives; comprised of 59 chapters in six regions throughout the United States. The NOBLE Purpose - http://www.noblenational.org • To unify Black Law Enforcement Officers at executive and command levels; • To conduct research in relevant areas of law enforcement; • To establish linkages and liaisons with organizations of similar concern; • To evaluate and recommend legislation relating to the criminal justice process; • To establish effective means and strategies for dealing with racism in the field of criminal justice; • To develop communication techniques for sensitizing police executives, police officers, institutions and agencies in the criminal justice system to the problems of the black community; • To develop mechanisms that will facilitate the exchange of information among black police executives; • To articulate the concerns of Black Executives in law enforcement. “Building on the Principles of Zeta While Blazing New Paths” 18 Smart and Safe Community meeting WHAT: As a chapter determine the type of meeting you are able to conduct based upon your available resources • Chapter meeting, community program, branch meeting, etc. WHO: Schedule a planning meeting with your local NAACP and/or NOBLE chapters to align meeting goals and assign tasks • In the event that neither organization is available, contact your local National Bar Association or local police department WHEN: Planning should take place in January with the community meetings occurring in February and March. A webinar with NAACP and NOBLE leadership will be scheduled in early January. WHERE: Cities with more than one Zeta chapter should consider working together.
