A haunting, expressionist work of dual influences - classical tradition set to music of Tchaikovsky and Martinü in the first two acts, and German expressionism underscored by electronics composers Fritz Winckel and Rüdiger Rüfer in the final. Inspired by the true story of Anna Anderson, a woman who believed herself to be Anastasia, youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II. Rob Ashford directs Kenneth Branagh as the unforgettable Archie Rice in the final production for Plays at the Garrick season.
