The shelter is open to residents of Daviess County. The shelter houses stray and unwanted pets in a
modern facility. Animal are adopted to qualified applicants. The Animal Control Department picks
up stray and unwanted animals, traps nuisance wildlife, rescues animals, removes dead animals from
the streets and other properties, gives programs to various groups upon request.

Advocates for all people with disabilities or limitations due to aging. Provides information about
technology, issues of interest to people with disabilities, issues of interest to aging laws, regulations,
and programs throughout the state and nation.
ATTIC provides the four core services required of centers for independent living: individual and
systems advocacy, information and referral, peer counseling, and independent living skills training.

Volunteer Program. Trained RSVP volunteers screen children for vision problems. If a problem is

A new, affordable health insurance program for uninsured adult Hoosiers. The program is
sponsored by the state and only requires minimal monthly contributions from the participant. For
ages 18-64. A pre-existing or high-risk medical condition has no effect on eligibility. HIP offers full
health benefits including hospital services, mental health care, physician services, prescriptions,
diagnostic exams and disease management.
A minimum of $500 in preventive services are free. HIP does not cover pregnancy services, as those
are offered under the Hoosier Healthwise program (HHW) nor does this program cover vision and
dental services.
Individuals must earn LESS than 200% of the federal poverty level (FPL) must not have access to
employer sponsored health insurance coverage and be uninsured for the previous 6 months. Cost
will be between 2% and 5% of their gross family income to have the security of health insurance.
