Congratulations. 4-H Star Awards Judging The 2013-2014 Star Awards Judging was held Thursday, June 12th at the Eastland County Courthouse at 10:00 a.m.. Applicants were interviewed. The following applied for Star Awards: Gold Star Award - Matthew Lawrence - Rising Star 4-H Silver Star Award - Rileigh Dunlap - Red Gap 4-H Caryn Lawrence - Rising Star 4-H Rebecca Yates - Carbon 4-H Bronze Star Award - Candance Chaney - Carbon 4-H Keeleigh Gorr - Red Gap 4-H Kynnley Herrington - Carbon 4-H “I DARE YOU” Award - Matthew Lawrence - Rising Star 4-H Extension programs serve people of all ages regardless of socioeconomic level, race, color, sex, religion, disability or national origin. The Texas A&M University System, U.S.Department of Agriculture, and the County Commissioners Courts of Texas Cooperating. A member of the Texas A&M University System and its statewide Agriculture Program Club News Highway 6 4-H Club Rising Star 4-H Club Merger of Carbon 4-H and Red Gap 4-H Highway 6 4-H Club is currently planning a Kick-Off Event to be held in September. No information is available at this time. More information will be sent out when the event is finalized. Please contact Caryl Lawrence of Kinsey Nall for more information. Shooting Stars Club Wildlife SPIN Club No August Practices The Wildlife SPIN Club will be touring Wharton Whitetail on August 7 at 6:30 pm. September 7th– Rifle & Business Meeting 21st– Shotgun Both start at 2 p.m. at the Eastland Gun Club For more info, please contact Kristi Keierleber at 254-643-7072 or the Extension Office. We will meet at the First Baptist Church parking lot in Eastland. Lamb and Goat Validation Tag Order All lambs and goats showing at a major livestock show, must have a state validation tag. Tag orders are due by August 26th to the Extension Office. Tags are $10 each. September 3-14, 2014 Abilene, Texas There is more to the West Texas Fair than the livestock shows. They also have contest such as photography, clothing, fine arts and cooking. Go to taylorcountyexpocenter.com for more information. 4-H Livestock Projects If you need a lamb or goat project for this year, please call Wade as soon as possible. Also, its not to early to be thinking about pigs, rabbits, and chickens. If you are interested in any of the projects and need assistance finding animals, let Wade know. County Meetings Adults Leaders: Sept. 17th @ 5:15 County Council: Sept. 17th @ 5:15 4-H FCS Committee Meeting: Sept. 17th @ 4:45 All meetings will be held in the extension Office Please call if you have any questions. 2013-2014 4-H Banquet Date: August 16, 2014 Time: 5 p.m. Location: First Baptist Church, Eastland Join us as we recognize the success within our 4-H Program. This year’s banquet will be catered, so we ask that you please call the Extension Office, at 254-629-2222, to RSVP. Ag Product ID In this contest, you must identify a Texas grown fruit, vegetable, cut of meat, etc.; then answer a question about the product. This is a district and state qualifying contest. The first practice will be held on August 19th from 3-4. We need your 4-H pictures for the 4-H Banquet slide show. Please email them to jarrett.howard@ag.tamu.edu THANKS Food Challenge Teams can have 3-5 members and can be either Junior/Intermediate or Senior. Access the 4-H CONNECT on-line system at: https://texas.4honline.com/ 2. New Members: Select [I need to set up a profile]. Returning Members: Select [I have a profile] or [I forgot my password]. Contact County Extension Office for resetting assistance. 3. New Members: Returning Members: 4. Once all profile information is current and correct under the Personal Information, Additional Information, Health Form, and Participation areas of enrollment continue to the Invoice page. 5. Review your invoice to ensure that the participation fee has been charged and it is correct. If you have been awarded an award certificate or a scholarship to cover your participation fee, enter the award code in the award code box. Once information has been reviewed, click continue to the Payment screen. 6. New Members: Returning Members: Select Adult or Youth from the drop down menu and click [Add Member]. Click [Edit] to the right of the inactive member’s profile. If you are new to 4-H, you can add your credit card payment information to 4-H CONNECT and it will be securely stored. Click the orange [Add New Credit Card] link if paying with credit card or select the county club check option. If the credit card on file has been updated you will need to remove it and add the credit card again using the new information. 7. Select the appropriate method of payment by clicking on the correct button, then click [Select Payment Method.] 8. On the “Confirm page” each person will be required to click the [Pay By Computer Terms and Conditions]. Click [Submit Enrollment] 9. Once an enrollment (new member) or re-enrollment (returning member) has been submitted, it is sent to the county office for review and approval. Once approved and paid for, an email confirmation will be sent to the family email address. Payment by 4-H Check can take up to 2 weeks to process. An active membership status WILL NOT be granted until participation fees have been received and marked as paid.
