Full refunds will be given if a class or program is cancelled by the
Kentwood Parks and Recreation Department due to low enrollments
or conflicts.
If you have registered for a program and decide you cannot attend
prior to the starting date, you will be issued a refund, minus a $5
administration fee.
If you cancel after the program has begun and prior to the third
scheduled class, you will receive a pro-rated refund minus a $5
administration fee.
The $5 administration fee will be waived if the participant decides to
take a household credit instead of a cash refund.
This refund procedure does not pertain to sport leagues and team
registrations.

Center. This program has touched so many lives...in the last
five years, 60,000 volunteers delivered more than 1.2 million

Dance, jump, spin! Learn the basics of ballet with your
instructor, Ms. Pat. Boys and girls will learn ballet positions, simple combinations, and terminology. Children
will improve their flexibility, posture, alignment, and

clothing and ballet shoes are recommended.

Her love for adaptive recreation
began while working at summer
camps in Michigan and Colorado. Katelyn is a graduate of
Grand Valley Sate University
and has her bachelor’s degree
in Therapeutic Recreation and a
minor in Spanish. She has experience in adaptive sports, mental
health and older adults. Katelyn
loves adaptive programming because “it allows people to have
experiences, and experiences are
what make us who we are.” Some of her favorite programs
include adaptive waterskiing,
creative movement, and biking club. Outside of work she
enjoys camping with her husband and chocolate lab, crafts
and movies.

Laura has lived in West Michigan her whole life. She grew up
in Byron Center and has lived
in both Grand Rapids and Kentwood. She attended Grand Valley State University and earned a
Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree in Marketing. She
has been working as a marketing professional in the corporate
environment for over 19 years.
Outside of work, Laura loves to
explore the area by bike, participating in multiple group rides,
bike events and races. She is also active in the co-op community, working to create more cooperative businesses in Grand
Rapids including the first cooperatively owned brewery in
Michigan.

Energy is essential to almost everything we do, from the

from wind and solar power to biofuel and fossil fuel.

WINTER TRAINING
The Kentwood Parks and Recreation Department has
partnered with the Midwest United FC Soccer Club to
offer this quality youth soccer program. The program is
geared towards boys and girls between the ages of 4 and
7, with priority placed on the advancement of individual
technical skills and a passion for the game. The program
offers young players the chance to work with licensed,
professional Midwest United staff coaches in a creative
and fun learning environment. 6 weeks.
Includes a T-Shirt.
The Kentwood Parks and Recreation Department has
partnered with the Midwest United FC Soccer Club to
offer this quality Winter Training soccer program. Most
of the facility’s fields are FieldTurf, a grass-like artificial
surface, on which players can wear their outdoor cleats.
Players training on Minifield B should plan on wearing
flat-soled shoes.

partnered with the Midwest United FC Soccer Club to
offer this quality Winter Sports Performance Training
Soccer program. This program is designed for players
soccer specific speed, strength, and agility. It incorporates significant elements of injury prevention activities
designed to follow FIFA’s program aimed at reducing
the occurrence of non-contact injuries. Players should
wear flat-soled shoes.

All classes are taught by certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors. Swim lessons may be canceled due
to emergency situations. There is no refund for emergency
cancellation or missed classes; however, a make-up lesson
can be scheduled for the lost day with a pool manager. Parents are asked to stay and watch lessons from the bench
area. Swimmers are encouraged to wear goggles and swim

Kentwood residents now have an area to exercise and socialize their four-legged friends at our brand new dog park
at Kelloggwoods Park (275-56th St SE). The fenced in offleash park has separate areas for large and small dogs. It also
includes benches, dog waste receptacles and water spigots to
rehydrate your pup. Dog parks are a great way for pets and
people to socialize. Off-leash dog areas also add value and

TAP DANCE: This class teaches tap skills including steps,
rhythm, patterns, coordination, basic tap terminology, and
choreography. Besides toning a variety of muscles, tap dancing improves balance, increases flexibility, and helps posture.

LYRICAL DANCE: An expressive dance utilizing jazz and

Paralympic Sport-Kentwood is a community-based sports club
developed to involve youth and adults with physical and visual
disabilities in sports and physical activity, regardless of skill
level. With 21 million physically disabled Americans, including
thousands of military personnel who’ve been severely injured
while on active duty, this is an important community need. We
currently offer programs such as adapted water ski, archery,
rock climbing, downhill snow ski, canoe & kayaking, karate,
and MUCH more.

FACILITY
The City of Kentwood Parks and Recreation Department has rental space available for meetings, parties,
sports team practices and other events. Rooms are
available for rent at the Kentwood Activities Center
and the Richard L. Root Kentwood Branch Library year
round. Rental fees and forms are available online or at
the Kentwood Parks and Recreation Department. Forms
must be filled out completely, signed and submitted with
payment to secure your reservation. A damage/cleaning
deposit will be processed at the time of your reservation.
The damage/cleaning deposit will be returned in full by
check within 2 weeks, when the rental (including guests,
entertainers and caterers) adhere to the rules and policies
stated, leave the rental space as it was found, and the
rental does not go outside (before or after) the reserved
times. Any time overages or damages will be deducted
from the deposit. All rentals have a two hour minimum.
Time reserved must include the set-up and break-down/
clean-up of your event. Persons renting these facilities
can apply for a permit to serve alcohol. Guideline &
restrictions do apply, including the mandatory use of a
licensed bartender/catering service. Rooms are available for rent Monday-Sunday from 8:00am-11:00pm
excluding holidays. Please call the Kentwood Parks and
