Umpire’s Whistle
Hi all.
Well to continue with Andrew and Wesley’s advice,
thank you both for your
positive advice and
thoughts.
Umpiring is a job that we
should enjoy- to put back
in to what we notice when
we play, rectify, advise and
make it FUN- cause you
can!!!!
Some important thoughts
for your positive umpiring!

Communication is
more than what you are
saying
 People already have
all the resources they need
- to effect a change
 Choice is better than
NO choice
 Every behavior serves
a positive intention and a
context to which it has
value

Every response is useful- you may hate the response but the knowledge
gained is useful
 The meaning of your
communication- is the
response you get
 People work perfectlyit is the function of how
they are performing at
present, in regards to how
they should be functioning
 People are ALWAYS in
an emotional state- either
PRODUCTIVE or EMOTIONAL state.
An emotional state is either_ POSITIVE- NEGATIVE
-RESOURCEFUL-HAPPYDEPRESSED – SAD- UNKNOWING OF SITUATION and so on.
SION!!!
REMEMBER!!!!!!!
 We are always in a
state of some form
 Our state shapes our
behavior
 Our state is a function
of OUR representational
system (our mindset),
when we umpire.
 We can choose our
state if we are self aware!
We can put ourselves and
players into a state of
choosing- by anchoring
our state in the BEGINNING.
SO AS UMPIRES, WE NEED
TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT
THE EMOTIONAL STATE OF
THE PLAYERS, AS WELL AS
OUR OWN EMOTIONAL
STATE, WHEN WE DELIVER
A MESSAGE OR A DECI-
Happy umpiring.
Look for Andrews next
edition in JUNE 2015.
Cheers
Gavin.

From the sideline
South Africa my Country!
Isn't that how we feel when we just won a world cup?
It
doesn't matter in which sport discipline, we are proud, we celebrate, we walk around with
pumped up chests and we smile! And now we are so excited about the upcoming Polocrosse
World Cup, which is all happening in July, yes people, only
8 WEEKS TO GO!!! To top it all,
we are the reigning champs, how awesome is that?
When it was announced that SA will host the 2015 world Cup, the biggest question on the world's lips was, could we provide horses of top standard to all?
Well we are there, we did it, we have the horses, we will play! It's all happening
on a beautiful venue too.
But wait, there is more....
Where is the money coming from to present a high standard South African
style Cup?
Close your eyes for a moment and remember the successful world cups presented by Australia in 2007 and UK in 2011…. Now picture this event held in SA
with no major sponsorships, no prizes for the winning team and best players,
no media coverage, no fancy horse blankets, opening and closing ceremonies, ,
etc. etc . The list is endless. If we all have the attitude that somebody else will
make it happen, we are in for a hell of a surprise.
Look at the bigger picture people, it’s about South Africa , our country , our hospitality, our ability to show the world how professional we are.
Yes, we do need all the help we can get , each and every one can make a
difference with just a little help.
So friends of the horse, let us work together, and make SA and ourselves
proud yet again!
