OLTHLRC HOLIDAY PARTY & COLORADO STATE ARCHIVES
PRESENTATION
Saturday, December 14, 2013, 11:30pm-3:00pm
Apex Community Recreation Center
6842 Wadsworth Boulevard, Arvada CO 80003
Join us for the Annual OLTHLRC Holiday Party on the second Saturday in
December for food, conversation, Hispanic genealogy networking, and a
presentation about the Colorado State Archives.
Please bring a main dish to share. OLTHRC Board members will provide
chips and salsa, beverages, and table settings (utensils, plates, napkins,
cups, water, etc.).
Remember to bring your genealogy charts, notebooks, and/or
databases. Books from the OLTHRC library will also be on hand to
consult.
As a special treat, George Orlowski, State Archivist for the State of
Colorado, will be giving an informative presentation on the genealogical
resources provided by the Colorado State Archives. Mr. Orlowski’s
presentation will begin immediately after our holiday potluck
(approximately 12:30). Our annual membership meeting will take place
after this presentation.

schedule. It was a busy summer compiling findings from research of The
Luján Project for a presentation at the HGRC Hispanic Genealogy
Conference at the end of August and then researching and writing Part 3
of the Gallegos family history and genealogy, which will appear in the
January 2014 issue of Herencia.

Rob Martinez and I are at work on some new genealogy findings on the
Jirón de Tejeda-Leyva de Mendoza family that is slated to appear in the
Summer issue. I’m also working in the revised genealogy of the Abeyta
family for the summer issue.
It is a remarkable
milestone to have an
e-version of ONMF.
Look for a new series on the history of our ancestors during the thirteen
years of exile at El Paso del Río Norte. Have you noticed in many history
books and family histories, there is mention of the 1680 Pueblo uprising
and the next statement is that people returned with Vargas in 1693.
What happened in between those years. You’ll learn about that history
and you will likely read about events that involved one or more of your
ancestors.
You don’t even have
to own a Kindle
reader to purchase
this version, but you
will need a Kindle app
on your phone,
and/or Windows 8
computer or MAC,
and/or tablet (but not
for a Nook reader)
Keep in mind that without submission to the journal from OLTHRC
members, it takes time and effort to conduct original research, organize
it and then write the articles. I ask for your patience. You will receive
four issues for the 2013 year.
The e-version of
ONMF is searchable,
which is a plus given
that the book does
not have an index.
Please consider submitting something to El Farolito about your family
genealogy research. I can help with any editing.
