Marco Bertini and Gianni Giampaoli, researchers and
historians of offshore powerboat racing, created this project
designed and developed for years to remember and relive in
Viareggio and in Versilia that from 1962 to 1992 was the race
known throughout the world as the Viareggio-Bastia-Viareggio
The event "VBV Legend 2016 - the First International Meeting
of Classic Offshore Powerboats" will place from July 21 to 24
2016 ie in the period in which took place the “Summer
Classic”, Viareggio-Bastia-Viareggio and that precisely this
event will he wants to be the memory.
The main events of the event:
one to show on the ground in front of the Club Nautico Versilia
with show to public display of static vintage and restored
boats that will compete at a premium for the more faithful to
the original version.
A second event will be the parade of boats participating in the
rally that the waters off the port of Viareggio bring these up in
front of the pier of Forte dei Marmi, passing in front of those of
Lido di Camaiore and Marina di Pietrasanta.
On Saturday, the holding of an evening in the halls of the CNV,
with the awards ceremony of the Concours d'Elegance and
others awards.
It should be noted that to date no event of this kind has yet
been made not only in Italy but also internationally. The
boating industry in recent times, however, sees the growing
interest and involvement in the environment of the boats from
vintage racing following the example of what happens for
years in international motorsport.

POWERBOATS
Are admitted to the event only boats or serial models derived,
which have participated or at least have been enrolled for at
least one offshore competition during the period in which the
events of the Viareggio-Bastia-Viareggio, namely between 1962
and 1992 .
Are admitted also boats that have participated in a well
offshore competition in previous years may also be made to
1962, until 1956, the year officially considered the beginning of
the sport.
These boats do not need to be navigating in the current state,
as it is sufficient their static exposure on a trailer.
This can also true for the participating boats to the VBV
Legend 2016 concours.
Participation in the meeting there is no obligation to participate
in two parades on the ground and in the sea, nor the concours
d'elegance, but it must be defined by the owner for each boat
during registration.
There are no limits in the entry number of boats for each owner
but will have to be made for each of these.

On the basis of iconographic sources and vintage news, provided by the
individual owners, experts of vintage offshore boats will examine and judge the

engines, transmissions and in equipments.

From 1962 to 1992 it was held the
Viareggio-Bastia-Viareggio, one
of the most important race in the
world
The weekend of the race attracts the best
drivers in the world, celebrities and just
curious that gave luster to Versilia whole
in the middle of the summer.
The international meeting in the name of
the race wants to be the memory button.
As in the annual revivals of the Mille Miglia cars, the rally will welcome the boats
that were the protagonists of the VBV, who will return to sail the waters of the
Riviera, in a walkway that now will see how the scenery of Viareggio piers and the
three piers of Lido di Camaiore, Marina Pietrasanta and Forte dei Marmi
