Na ‘Ohana Pulama
provided group and foster homes for 55 emotionally
and behaviorally challenged youth between the ages
of 5 and 19 through therapeutic, non-institutional
family environments on O‘ahu and Hawai‘i Island.
DIFFICULTIES ENCOUNTERED
BY IMMIGRANTS AND REFUGEES
General Immigration Services helped 171
immigrants learn English, apply for citizenship/
naturalization, and assist with employment
preparation on O‘ahu and Hawai‘i Island.
We also improved access to services on Hawai‘i
Island by establishing the Immigrant Resource
Center in Hilo. The Center provides a “first stop” for
immigrants and migrants to obtain information on
services, resources, and benefits.
DIFFICULTIES ADJUSTING
TO LIFE’S CHALLENGES
Our Intake, Information and Referral Unit
provided assistance and/or information to over
10,036 individuals on O‘ahu. Approximately 850
calls and walk-ins per month were received
and were referred to our programs or other
appropriate programs in the community.
The Horizons Program provided 10 young adults
ages 18 to 25 who were transitioning out of
foster/child welfare, mental health, or juvenile
justice systems with residential services, independent living skills, counseling, mentoring and
outreach services.
SUSTAINING INDEPENDENT LIVING
FOR SENIORS AND PERSONS WITH
DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES
Case Management for Seniors provided 481
seniors with advocacy, case management, professional counseling for psychological and social
problems, assessment of needs, and bereavement
counseling through 10 housing projects and one
community center.
Celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, Lanakila
Multi-Purpose Senior Center kept 1,881 seniors
active, healthy, and connected to the community through
educational, recreational, and social activities.
Medication Management Program provided
statewide education and screening for 438 seniors
to educate them about proper drug use.
Transportation Services drove 840 seniors to
doctor appointments, shopping, and group dining
sites throughout O‘ahu.
Developmental Disabilities Waiver Services
provided personal care, skilled nursing, respite
services, and overall nursing supervision to 37 adults
and children with developmental disabilities who
reside in special foster homes or in their own homes.
Serving Our Neighbor Island Community
Hawai‘i Island Community Office provided
assistance and/or information to over 1,155
individuals through a wide scope of services on
Hawai‘i Island.
In addition, the Hawai‘i Island Community Office
participated in the tropical storm Iselle disaster and
recovery efforts and provided emergency housing
funds to families and seniors affected by the storm.
Kaua‘i Community Office offered emergency basic
needs assistance of past-due rent, first month’s rent,
utility payments, food, clothing, and other material
support to 1,369 individuals on Kaua‘i.
The Kauai Community Office and the Kauai Advisory
Board also hosted and coordinated a Santa’s
Workshop event. With the help of community
partners, 300 children in families participating in
CCH programs received a Christmas gift and visit
from Santa.
Maui Community Office offered emergency basic
needs assistance of past-due rent, first month’s rent,
utility payments, food, clothing, and other material
support to 1,106 individuals in Maui County.
Additionally, the Maui Community Office and the
Maui Advisory Board coordinated a Holiday Toy
Drive and a Back to School Drive during the year to
help struggling families in need.

serve as the venue for specific outreach initiatives and programs; others

Empowering Job Seekers
Starwood Hawaii
Starwood Hawaii is a partner-in-mission with Catholic Charities Hawai‘i. This
partnership began in 2012 with special in-kind donation drives to benefit Catholic
Charities Hawai‘i families and seniors in need. Since then, the hospitality company
has increased its engagement with a new and innovative approach. Starwood staff
developed employment workshops for individuals who are trying to get back on
their feet at Hale Wai Vista, an affordable housing complex in Leeward O‘ahu. The
workshops helped residents seeking jobs prepare their resumes and get ready for job
interviews. Many were preparing for job fairs and all were grateful for the feedback
and assistance. The team plans to continue the workshops into the future to help
the residents overcome their job seeking challenges.

Enterprise Holdings
Enterprise Holdings employees have enthusiastically embraced Catholic Charities
Hawai‘i’s mission of helping people in need. In spring 2014, they held a basic necessities drive for youth and families in our Comprehensive Counseling and Support
Services Program. In addition, Enterprise held a school supplies drive in the summer
to help us meet the needs of struggling families. Enterprise Holdings is a committed
corporate citizen and includes service to the community in its corporate mission.
Promoting Social Responsibility
Partnering Schools
Maryknoll School, Mid Pacific Institute, and Star of the Sea School have been
long-time partners and supporters of Catholic Charities Hawai‘i. Each year, the
students help to provide Thanksgiving baskets for our families in need. Additionally,
students from schools throughout the state have worked on service projects this year
including a Community Day of Service project at our Clarence T.C. Ching Campus,
assembling Father’s Day gifts, writing Veteran’s Day cards, and participating in our
Holidays from the Heart gift giving project for those we serve. We are grateful for
these ongoing partnerships.
