STROBE SYSTEM INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Design and specifications are subject to change without notice. © StreetGlow, Inc., 2003 streetglow.com WARNING! HIGH VOLTAGE When the unit is turned on the strobe head outlets contain High Voltage. Please wait 5 minutes after shutting this unit off before attempting service. Do not plug strobe heads into the unit while it is running. 1. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION INPUT VOLTAGE CURRENT DRAW OUTPUT POWER OUTPUT VOLTAGE 10 to 16 Volts DC 7.75 AMPS 3. SYSTEM LAYOUT Plan your system layout before starting. This is a typical system layout. 4. BULB INSTALLATION 7. STROBE HEAD CONNECTIONS Remove lens assembly from vehicle. Pop the bulb into the 1” hole. 1” hole saw Plug the strobe head cables into the output connectors. Additional heads and extension cables can be purchased and connected to the two remaining outlets. Drill hole NOTE: The bulb will get hot during operation. Keep the bulb glass at least 3/4” away from any plastic of the lens assembly. 8. POWER CONNECTIONS Before you make any connections to the vehicle wiring, always disconnect the battery negative terminal. 5. INSTALL THE CABLES 80 WATTS 500 VOLTS DC MAX 2. SYSTEM CONTENTS (1) 6 Outlet 80W power supply (1) Main power harness Route the cable through the vehicle and plug into the strobe bulbs. Optional control panel interface Cable Screw to chassis ground Black (1) Important! MOUNT THE POWER SUPPLY Mount the power supply in a clean, dry location. Mounting the unit to a flat metal surface will aid in heat dissipation. Four #8 x 1/2” screws are provided... (4) (4) If the bulb is located in a damp area, the connectors should be sealed with RTV silicone sealant. (Not included) 9. TROUBLE SHOOTING Blown Fuse: The power supply will blow a fuse if the input voltage is reversed. If this happens, first locate the wiring fault, then replace the fuse with one of the same rating. Erratic behavior (and/or) shutdown: 1) The power supply will shut down if there is a short circuit condition on any one of the strobe heads. If the electrical conductors connecting the power supply to the strobe heads are exposed to water, a short circuit will result. The first sign is intermittent operation, followed by complete shutdown of the strobe system. To find the short circuit, unplug all strobe head cables from the power supply. Test one cable/head at a time until the problem is found. 2) The power supply will also shut down if the input voltage drops below 10 Volts. Check for a bad connection at + and GND, or a bad switch. 2
