79TH ANNUAL NEW YORK CITY DINNER & SPORTSMEN’S EXHIBITION
A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN
Dear Ducks Unlimited Supporters,
Welcome to the 79th Annual New York City Ducks Unlimited Dinner, Sportsman’s Exhibition and Auction. I am
honored to have been selected Chairman and humbled by the experience.
Ducks Unlimited is the world’s leader in wetlands and waterfowl conservation. Thanks to your generous support,
our Chapter is one of the strongest in our country. It was in 1937, during the Dust Bowl when North America’s
drought decimated our duck population, Joseph P. Knapp and a group of sportsmen came together to form what
is now, Ducks Unlimited. Their mission was simple, habitat conservation, a land management practice that seeks
to conserve, protect and restore, habitat areas for wild animals, fungi and plants. These gentlemen shared the
same passion we have today and it is up to us to carry on their ideals. Presently, our fundraising efforts enable
DU to conserve and protect the habitat and restore endangered wetlands.
DU’s conservation stretches from Prairie Potholes of Western Canada to the Eastern Shores of Maryland down to
Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. Ducks Unlimited is a grassroots, volunteer based organization. We volunteers
host more than 4,000 events annually and as previously mentioned, we should all feel proud to be part of one its
most successful Chapters.
It’s safe to say, anyone who has been fortunate enough to experience duck hunting understands the importance
of our mission. It is our responsibility to pass along the knowledge of conservation and passion for duck hunting.
It starts here, with your kindness and generosity. Protecting our remaining wetlands will ensure future
generations the opportunity to treasure one of America’s great traditions…hunting.
With the tireless efforts of Mr. Ron Zega, Regional Director we are pleased to welcome back many exhibitors of
years past, as well some great new additions to the auction. Make sure you spend some time getting to know the
room, from exhibitors to your fellow chapter members, we are part of something bigger than ourselves. Trade a
few stories from this year’s hunting season, double the size of that sail fish you caught and triple the numbers of
bonefish you landed. This is a wonderful evening amongst friends. Make the most of it.
Once again, I thank you for your support…may God bless you, your families and these United States of America.
Let’s have a great night!
Respectfully yours,
Christopher K. Jennings

79TH ANNUAL NEW YORK CITY DINNER & SPORTSMEN’S EXHIBITION
WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD?
OUR VISION - Ducks Unlimited has a bold vision – wetlands sufficient to fill the skies with
waterfowl today, tomorrow and forever. Wetlands are one of the most important ecosystems on
the planet. These habitats benefit many wildlife species and provide recreational opportunities,
clean water and other ecological benefits for people.
OUR CHALLENGE - Wetland loss continues at an alarming rate and the intricate link
between waterfowl, wetlands and people is increasingly fragile. Fewer wetlands means fewer
sunrises with wings on the horizon, fewer chances to share a first retrieve with a first pup,
fewer memories afield with kindred spirits.
OUR SOLUTION - Rescue Our Wetlands is a seven-year continental campaign that aims
to change the face of conservation in North America by securing $2.0 billion to invest in
conservation.
$2.0 BILLION FOR WATERFOWL & WETLANDS - More than any other fundraising effort
in the past, this campaign will harness the power of “One DU”.
NOW IS OUR TIME TO ACT.
Rescue Our Wetlands focuses on five priorities vital to the survival of wetlands as
well as the waterfowl, ecosystems and communities that rely on those resources.
Waterfowl Forever - The heart of the campaign, this priority recognizes that our volunteers,
members and partners provide the power to drive the DU engine. Event support and other
sources of unrestricted revenue provide the broad financial underpinning for our conservation,
policy and science programs.
Breeding Landscapes - Your gifts directed to high-priority breeding grounds will protect and
restore crucial but threatened production habitats across the continent.
Wintering and Migrations Landscapes - Investing in these vital landscapes will protect and
restore wintering and staging habitats to ensure healthy waterfowl return to the breeding
grounds.
Conservation Education - Educating the public about the importance of wetlands and fostering
the next generation of conservationists are key elements of this priority.
Conservation Legacy - Planned gift commitments and endowment gifts will contribute to a
strong, stable future for our mission and supporters.
