New Catalogues
Great Britain Concise 2014
The leading Great Britain catalogue
The 29th edition of this popular catalogue
lists all Great Britain issues from the Penny
Black to early 2014, including definitives,
commemoratives, regionals, postage dues,
departmental officials, postal fiscals, errors, first
day covers, booklets, specimens, presentation
packs, Post & Go Stamps, FRAMAs, PHQ cards
and post office sheets (‘Smilers’). Every stamp
design is illustrated in full colour and listings
include changes of watermark, perforation,
shade and phosphor.
Learn more about your collection
If you’re a Great Britain collector, but you’ve
never used the catalogue before, there is a
helpful introductory section, providing answers
to many of the problems encountered by
collectors, while additional help comes in the
form of a full design index and diagrams,
including those for Machin decimal booklet
panes. Prices are given for both unmounted and
mounted mint stamps issued between 1887 and
1935 and on-cover prices are provided up to
1911. All are carefully checked each year to give
an accurate easy-to-use guide to British stamps
and their values, thus ensuring the continuing
popularity of this widely used catalogue.
New for this edition
Helpful new tables have been added, showing
the various date and source-code combinations
which may be found on the popular ‘U’-series
Machins and Post & Go collectors will find
full details of stamps dispensed from Hytech
machines at exhibitions and elsewhere.
Booklet panes, including those with inverted
watermarks, are now listed up to 1952.
There are two new varieties listed on the 1924
1d. British Empire Exhibition stamps and several
Queen Elizabeth Wilding and commemorative flaws
are included for the first time.
The special lay-flat
binding allows the
catalogue to lie open
while in use

SG. 1884 1s Brown & 3d Dull red "National Telephone
Company". Very fine piece of "Call register" bearing a
3d and a bisected 1s both tied by violet "NATIONAL
TELEPHONE CO. LTD/ DUNDEE" hand stamps. These
unusual bisected examples were issued in Dundee
during a temporary shortage of the 6d value. The
National Telephone Company stamps bearing the
portrait of Colonel Robert Raynsford Jackson
(Chairman of the National Telephone Company)
caused considerable offence at the time of issue due
to the omission of the portrait of Queen Victoria and
were officially withdrawn from use in 1891 at the
request of the Post Master-General. Scarce and
unusual.
