RESERVATIONS - If you are interested in
any of our travel programs for 2016, please
submit your reservations early. Our
membership consists of 1200 households.
CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS
We reserve the right to cancel published
tours, although we make every effort to run
each one as planned. We realize your
anticipation of taking a vacation at a given
time to a given destination, and as we
personally invest time, energy, and money
into each tour, we certainly want to avoid
tour cancellations
We ask your cooperation by making
reservations early, thus indicating to us
the tour has required number of people
to go.
When buses are filled, a waiting list will be
started. Invariably there are last-minute
cancellations. If you did not get on the trip,
please check with me prior to the trip for
any vacancies. All prices listed are per
person. If you wish, I can figure single,
triple, or quad prices for you. If you can fill
last-minute cancellations “like the day
before,” please let me know.
There is a cut-off date imposed on us by
hotels, cruises, airlines and other tour
component factors. Alerting our members to
the cancellation situation,
will aid
everyone. Efforts will be made to save each
trip.
When calling our phone 570-323-4521 for
reservations or information, please leave the
telephone ring (5) times. If you reach our
voice mail, please leave your name and
number. If I do not return your call within
(2) days to confirm, please call again, I may
not have received your important call
correctly. (Tours sell out quickly, so send
or call your reservations in early.)
A refund will be made if cancellation is
received 30 days or more prior to departure,
unless tickets, hotel, meals or incidentals are
involved. If cancellation is received after 30
days, no refund will be made.
TRAVEL PARTNERS - Often we have
requests to secure travel partners for
members interested in a given tour. We will
provide names and telephone numbers of
people looking for travel partners to each
party. When the parties mutually agree to
travel together, it often becomes the start of
many shared tour adventures.
There will be NO refunds on Broadway
Shows, Sporting Events, Radio City Music
Hall, Dinner Theatres, or any non
refundable cost (such as admission tickets,
meals and lodging expenses) incurred by
Merrymakers Cruise and Travel in advance
of the trip in your behalf.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A
TRAVELING COMPANION FOR ANY
OF OUR TRIPS, MALE OR FEMALE,
PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR NAME.
After tickets and/or lodging and meals have
been purchased in your behalf, you will be
responsible for this amount.
GRATUITIES For baggage handing, hotel
reservations, (where meals are part of the
trip), and your bus driver are included in
your tour price. If your driver extends any
special favors to you personally, then you
may wish to extend a special tip for these
services.
MERRYMAKERS acts as an agent for its
members in purchasing such tickets.
Merrymakers will attempt to resell such
tickets for you if you must cancel, but
cannot accept any responsibility to do so, or
to get full price for these tickets.
Tickets booked through Tour Agencies and
Cruise Lines will have their own
cancellation policy. No refunds will be
given on cancellations made one day prior

The strongest man who ever lived! He killed a lion with his

because of he strength of his hands, he’s a hero because of the
faith in his heart!
The story is about Samson’s personal struggle against his own
destiny, his desire for a simple life, and a girl. The biggest spectacles of the show will include fire, foxes (played by cunningly
disguised dogs) and, of course, the collapse of a pagan temple.

“LIFE” IS A GIFT TO YOU. The
way you live your life is your gift
to those who come after. Make it a
fantastic one. LIVE IT WELL! ENJOY TODAY! DO SOMETHING
FUN! BE HAPPY! HAVE A
GREAT DAY.
The Sammy Kaye story is as truly
American as is apple pie. It’s a success
story of a boy who worked his way
through college to earn a civil engineering degree, only to find his true expression in music. He had a vital decision to
make. A musical career and uncertainty,
or the warm feeling of security as a civil
engineer. He made his choice, and once it
was made, he never took a backward
step.

The 110,000-square-foot museum, set on
the grounds of the 9/11 Memorial, whose
reflecting pools occupy the foot-prints of
the Twin Towers, will explore the events of
9/11 through photos, videos, audio clips and
artifacts salvaged from wreckage at the
site.
Visitors will enter through a pavilion
between the reflecting pools.
Within the building's glass atrium are
two huge steel tridents from the facade of
the North Tower (1 World Trade Center) and
other large artifacts, including a charred New
York Fire Department Ambulance and fire
truck.
Because of the solemnity associated
with 9/11 events, elements of what remained became subject to federal preservation law. These assets include the remains
of the foundation slabs of the Twin Towers,
the remnants of the exterior structure of the
towers known as "box columns" and a
portion of the retaining wall originally
built to keep the Hudson River from flooding the site.
The Memorial Museum had to be
placed where these archaeological elements could be seen, at the bedrock level of
the site seven stories below ground.

The National September 11 Memorial &
Museum is open to the public. The 110,000square-foot museum has a dual purpose: to
tell the story of what happened on 9/11 and to
honor those who died in the terrorist attacks.
Memorial Hall commemorates those who
died on 9/11 and in the 1993 attack on the
World Trade Center.
Foundation Hall, a segment of the slurry
wall, part of the original foundation of the
World Trade Center, and the Last Column, a
36-foot-tall piece of welded plate steel that
was removed from the site in May 2002;
volunteers and victims' relatives signed the
column and affixed to it various tributes. A
piece of one of the planes used to bring down
the towers. The "Survivors' Stairs," which
once connected the northern edge of the
World Trade Center Plaza to Vesey Street,
provided an unobstructed exit for hundreds.

From the 5th Naval District to the USS Intrepid
If if
Joined the Navy July 52 discharged July 56.
After boot camp at Bainbridge MD. (monthly pay was
about $57.00) My first two years in the Navy where
spent at the 5th Naval District Headquarters Norfolk
Virginia. I was assigned to (PAMI) Personnel
Accounting Machine Installation, IBM machines
(punch card, verifiers, sorters) my duty was office
clerk.
The duty was extremely hard! I was there 5
days a week, with NO other duties. I had every
evening and week-end off, but I did have to walk
about a block away (to stand in the chow line for
lunch), which was right next door to the barracks. The
barracks was two wings and two stories high, probably 200 sailors to each wing
with only one television for recreation (ruff life). I had my car on base and drove
home just about ever week-end to Pennsylvania. I always had a car load of other
sailors on their way home for the week-end; I think I charged them $15.00 round
trip. We would take the ferry from Norfolk to Newport News then up to
Richmond, Washington, than Williamsport PA, approximately 406 miles or 10 –
12 hour drive.
Somewhere around June 1st 1954, I reported to USS Intrepid for my new duty
station. I was just a Seaman. All I can remember was that they were looking for
someone that could type. That’s how I got assigned to X Division, My first job was
typing June 18, 1954 on the receiving record of each new crew member.
The USS Intrepid was in dry dock for the first month or so in Newport News
and the only thing that I can remember was the steam catapults (very first ones
were installed on the Intrepid) had to be tested. After Newport News we headed
for our shake down cruise Guantanamo Cuba. Returning to Norfolk, then to the
Mediterranean for 6 months. We stopped at Florida to pick up our Air Groups,
then 10 days or so to Gibraltar, then on to Naples, Barcelona, Greece, Turkey and
other places. I did this trip twice while I was aboard. On the second trip myself
and 90 others were being discharged and were send home to Norfolk aboard a
smaller carrier and I got very sea sick I don’t remember seeing or eating anything
all the time I was aboard. We had to spend several days in the receiving station in
Norfolk before being discharged.
When I went aboard the USS Intrepid I was a Seaman, one year and half later
I was a PN2, (Second Class Personnel man). There was one other Second Class,
one Third Class, and three Seaman working in the Personnel Office. Next door
where our bosses: Chief Warrant, one Lieutenant, and a JG. The other 2 nd Class
was from the Philippines, the 3rd was from Ohio, one Seaman (USNR) was from
Spartanburg South Carolina, and William Corel from Roanoke Virginia, and one
from Massachusetts.
Working in the Personnel Office was not difficult duty, no watches to stand,
most of the time no chow lines (had passes). I had to stand duty once during a war
game, from 4 AM to 6 AM on the bridge. Of course during General Quarters I
had an assigned station, remember the gong, gong, gong, General Quarters;
General Quarters all hands mann your battle stations.
Respectively submitted
