Hudlow Warming hut “Now Serving hamburgers.” at least for our ride!
Ending the month of June with a great
ride from Fernan Saddle to Hudlow
warming hut, several riders enjoyed the
tasty hamburgers as they converged
arrived at the Hut. The hamburger BBQ
was provided by the club and cooked up
by Dennis Falconer shown in the photo
on the left.
Anyone notice who was first in line?
Note: It wasn’t Frank or Jo Ann...
CDA Polaris and Randy Helt

Sunday June 30th CDA Polaris presented Mr. Helt

From the Vice President
th
July 4 Independence Day. Reflecting on it, it's pretty amazing the courage and vision our founding fathers
and those who had fought to create
this country. While we are a fairly
"new" country in the course of history,
we are the longest-lived current democracy in the world. Pretty amazing
to think about. Like those that fought
in our war for independence, our military service men and
women deserve the same honor and respect today. Thank you
to our members that have served, to those that have family
members in the military. Your sacrifice and service are greatly
appreciated and respected.
What a busy month! Thanks to all that attended our "Summer
Scramble" and made it such a success. I heard a lot of great
comments on the routes, organization and the band! Congrats to
Jeff Adams for the winning poker hand. Jeff's skill with firearms
seems to transfer over to the dart board quite well. Jeff...we're
waiting on you to pick up the first round at the next meeting! We
had around 160 people that participated in the ride. This event
was quite successful as a fundraiser for the club, allowing us to
continue to offer things like prizes and barbecues on rides to our
members. A special thanks to all those that worked the event
and put in such great effort, and to Dale and Cathy Buege for
leading the ride to Grizzly Mountain on Sunday. What a nice ride
and great scenery.
The following weekend was our ride from Fernan Saddle to the
Hudlow Warming hut via the 802 trail. In all these years, that's
the first I've run the entire trail; I have really missed out! What a
great trail, narrow, with tight turns through the timber. I have to
say, this was one of my favorite rides. Thanks to George Williams and Rick Schrader for leading it. And a special thanks to
Dennis and Jeanne Falconer for bringing the food and cooking
the BBQ! Not much beats a good, hot meal after a great ride.
July 13th we will have our first "Xtreme" ride in a couple years.
We will be going up Baldy Mountain outside of Sandpoint. The
route has some steep parts across a large open area (think trail
16 on steroids) and some rough, rocky sections that might require assistance or winching. A 4x4 is strongly suggested (the
light front ends of "sport quads" might be problematic) but is 50"
UTV friendly. Bring a lunch, and since I haven't had a chance to
pre-ride the route, expect some "trial and error". But that adds to
the "adventure", right?
July 20th is our ride to Fern Falls, up the CDA river. I have been
told that a "Hawaiian Theme" is in the works, so keep an eye on
the website for more details.
We had a discussion at the last board meeting and have decided
to create a Facebook page for the club. The club web site remains our primary means of communication, this is simply a supplement to give people another way to keep in touch, exchange
information and post pictures and comments. Please put some
consideration into posts; what goes on here does reflect on the
club and how we are seen by both members and non-members.
Thank you to Christina Williams for creating the new page. It can
be found here:

Have a great month, ride safe, and once again, see ya on the
trail.
Brian Dunham
Hey, you want to talk about a good time? I sure
hope you didn’t miss out. I’m talking about the
North Idaho ATV Summer Scramble. Good times
with good friends! Thanks to all who attended
and supported the event. We had quite a few
compliments on the ride route, the BBQ, the
poker hand awards, and raffle prizes. This kind of
event is not possible without “world class” help,
so I would like to extend special thanks to all of the volunteers
who made this event, not only possible, but so successful.
If you don’t know, Blaise Koep recently stepped down as an
NIATV Board Member. I would like to pass my thanks to Blaise
for his time on the Board and if you see him please wish him
well. In his place, NIATV President, Brian Dunham, appointed a
new Board member, but I won’t steal his thunder, I’ll let Brian tell
you who he appointed either in his newsletter article or the next
general meeting. Best of luck to (????) the newest member of
our Board of Directors.
Finally, don’t forget about our yearly raffle, drawings to be held in
August. We have some exceptional
prizes and a large number of them to
be awarded this year. Tickets are
$1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. The drawing date is closer than you think, don’t
miss out.
Kindest Regards,
Dan Loughlin

Who’s Who in Business Sponsors
Loaded up with your ATVs and heading
into Montana? Looking for a nice watering hole (as old time cowboys might
say)? Pass up the fifty-thousand-buck
tourist joint, go about two miles and take
exit 18 off I-90. You'll find a great little
oasis, er, make that O Aces. Look hard
for it, the sign might be a bit faded, but
it's worth stopping, especially if you're looking for new things to do.
At O Aces, you'll find trails to ride, free camping, a great meal, or just a little casino
fun. Owners, PJ and Robin Jennings have sponsored our club since last year and have
enjoyed our members coming by. In winter, bring your snowmobiles, too. Robin would
like the club membership to know how much they enjoy your visits and appreciate your
business!

They currently have five employees and offer a full-menu cafe for lunch and dinner, a
fully stocked bar, along with casino games, keno, and live poker. One of
the first things you will want to do is give their giant Wheel of Fortune a
turn. You can win free money to play the one-arm-bandits—er, I mean
slot machines.
Besides a US Post Office, their building sports an antique/gift shop
which Robin is currently engaged in transforming into an old-fashioned
mercantile store. You can also purchase Montana licenses for hunting
and fishing here.
PJ and Robin bought the O Aces in 2005, after owning Corner Pocket
(now Paddy's) in Coeur d'alene for over 25 years. They have a daughter,
Marie and two grandchildren, Emmie, 4 years old, and Eli age 2. Her
husband, Michael, is a CPA in Coeur d'alene. Their son, Patrick, is in
Missoula and runs a poker room at Hooters (I'm sure that's what she
said.)
O Aces Bar Grill Casino Gifts Antiques on I-90 at exit 18, De Borgia.
Montana 59830. Call ahead for information at 406-678-0090. They are
open from noon to 9:00 PM (per the crowd they may stay longer), but
the cafe closes at 9PM. On weekends they stay open til midnight.
