AIR VENTURE 2009
July 27 thru
August 2, 2009
If you are planning
to be at Air Venture,
please remember our
newsletter when you
return. Share photos,
stories, what’s new
with all of us.
Safe flying and have
fun.
We’ve had an especially busy month with Young Eagle Rallies on June
13 and July 14th. In addition, many of our pilots, supported the Aviation
Education Foundation with Young Eagle flights during their Summer
Academy, June 17 - 26.
We saw the usual excitement for the project tour. I can’t thank folks
enough for letting us snoop around their projects and hangars. This also
gave some a chance to visit with and ask questions of the Technical
Counselors, Loyd Remus and Burrall Sanders.
The notice of Phantom Fuel’s opening as a Phillip 66 distributor, reminded me that some of our YE pilots may not be aware of the Phillip
66 $1 gallon fuel rebate program for YE flights. Look for the program
information and the YE Rebate Submission Form included in this issue.
This month’s program feature Jay Brinkmeyer and the building of his
RB10. He’s making great progress. Arrive at 6:30 PM to check-in and
visit with friends. We’ll start the program at 7:00 PM. The EAA has
started a new trial membership so this would be a great time to bring a
friend and get them signed up.
I didn’t notice many of our members at the ATC meeting in June and
understanding how bad schedules can be….let me know if you’d like
us to invite Alan Gorski (ATC) and Hank to repeat at one of our meetings.
We’re planning a “Made To Order Breakfast” on Saturday, July 25th.
So, bring your family and friends out. We’ll be serving 8:00 - 11:00AM.
Weather permitting we’ll be able to serve downstairs and enjoy watching planes fly while we eat.
Don’t forget, I’m still looking for Membership and Program Directors.
See you Tuesday.

International Young Eagle Day - June 13th
Pilots and YE’s waited out the weather and we flew 31 on this
day. After learning about flight during Hank’s ground school,
they were all pro’s by the time the clouds lifted and Lee
Wolford returned from his scouting flight to say
“Yes, let’s fly!”.
Thanks to everyone for making this possible

Phillips 66 Aviation® is a proud supporter of EAA and the Young Eagles program. We are committed to spreading
awareness and excitement about general aviation to the youth of America. Through our Phillips 66 Aviation Rebate program that was introduced in 1994, we continue to support the pilots who make this possible.
By providing a $1.00 per gallon avgas rebate to all EAA Young Eagles volunteer pilots, Phillips 66 has helped the program achieve its original goal of one million flights. Over 4,000 pilots have used Phillips 66 avgas to introduce more than

About Our Chapter
EAA Chapter 72 meets at Meadow Lake Airport. Meetings start at 6:30 PM on the 3rd Tuesday of each month with a Chapter
cookout the following Saturday most of the warm months April—November. Look for the calendar of events to highlight special
chapter events like Young Eagle Rallies, fly-outs, and all other chapter sponsored activities.
The Chapter Newsletter is published monthly, normally mailed and available on the website a few days before each meeting.
Readers are encouraged to contribute articles, photos, etc. by submitting them to the Newsletter Editor in hard copy — email, pen/
paper, as long as it’s not verbal—by the first Saturday of each month.
Annual membership is $20. Send to Sandy Martin, at 7505 Mallard Drive, Peyton, CO 80831 and start receiving the newsletter
each month, attending the meetings and having a great time with sport aviation.
