Newsletter 24 July 2015 - Flaxmere Primary School
Welcome Back!!! Welcome to another new term and half way through the school year. Welcome to all of our new staff, whose smiling faces you will see on the next page. Welcome to all of our new students and families, it is privilege to have you as part of the Flaxmere Primary School family. A huge term ahead of us! Future Fridays begin again next week, with the boys very excited about taking part in Engineering and Horticulture. A great Canoe Polo season was had by both our teams. Congratulations to all players for displaying outstanding commitment and skills at each game. FPS Year 7/8 team played off in the grand final and came 2nd in their grade while the Year 6 team came 3rd in their grade. A big thank you to our parent supporters and to Winston Hohipa for his time and coaching skills. We have the privilege of hosting the Polyfest on 19 August with three groups from our school performing. We will host 11 other schools and their talented children. Please come and support our students. Our Reo Rua and Rumaki classes are already hard out practicing for Manu Korero. Have a chat to your tamariki, so that you can help them with this during the term. Also this term we have Cross Country, Flaxmere Triathlon, AIMs, Y3/4 teams Wearable Art Awards, Goldsmith Cup and Basketball. Mrs Speers has been working hard with her very talented singers as they prepare to take part in Kids Sing; another first for the school. As usual there is lots to be involved in over the term. We are also expecting a visit from Hekia Parata, Minister of Education. I have invited her to come and see our amazing school and meet our students and staff. She has kindly accepted the offer and we are organising dates!! Again, welcome back. If there is anything we can do to further support the progress of our kids, then let us know. We have a great school, amazing kids, supportive whanau/aiga and a talented staff. All of these make for a fantastic term ahead. Have a safe and happy weekend, Robyn (Miss Isaacson) PRINCIPAL News No. 21 3.7.2015 www.flaxmere.school.nz Telephone 8798 210 / text absentees 0221041866 Year 7/8 (from back left) Arkeylah Tuaine, Letori Butler-Toko, Kael Hohipa-Walker, Stephen Notoa, Nina Wilbrow, Ratuaroa Vercoe, Wiakura Brown, Tuhoe Vercoe, and Millie Haszard (absent) Year 6 (left to right) Maurice Leuluai, Jeremy Brown, Harmony Kautai, Survival Rakei, Xzayquon Todd and Ellen Mansell (absent) FOOTBALL —SATURDAY Flaxmere Sprigs v Eskview, Marewa Park, Napier - 9am kick off.
