When I received my latest Retirees Association newsletter, I noted that Joanne Wolfarth's name no longer appeared on the list of officers for the Association and has now been replaced volunteers. I with wanted other to take great this opportunity to comment on what a great job Joanne has done over many years for the Retirees Association. Along with Jean McMaster, I think she was one of the first to take on the admin work of the Association with the early folks who took on the Presidency. This year’s donation will help provide food certificates, taxi vouchers and bus tickets to students in a time of need. $17,500 has been donated by the Retirees Association of Mohawk College since 2006. experience, but when I retired, Joanne was quick to welcome me to retirement and to send me a notice to join. RAMC NEWSLETTER FALL 2013 3 RETIREES ASSOCIATION OF MOHAWK COLLEGE ~ EST. 1992 Admissions Reunion by Terry Mote A lively and stylish collection of friends gathered at Kelsey’s on September 30 for the first annual Admissions reunion. Just finding people was a challenge, but thanks to some creative research skills and a little social networking, the evening evolved nicely. Some are still at Mohawk, some have moved on to other places, and some have retired. Children were born and raised, misbehaved on occasion, matured into wonderful people, and had their own families. The time flew, the liquids flowed, and the smart phones hummed with new contacts. Many thanks to Ann Dunn and the Retirees Association for organizing this and other bus tours for retirees over the past 10 years. Bill Fulton lead us up a long hill - (extra-long because it was hot) and along the trails beside the babbling Bronte Creek. Frequent stops were made to allow for pictures to be taken of this scenic park and identifying for wild flowers. We returned to our cars to freshen up and then adjourned at noon to air-conditioned spendour in the Lowville Bistro where we enjoyed a variety of luncheon fare, all delicious, portions very generous. Lunch was a leisurely affair; we concluded a pleasant outing about 1:30 p.m. I stumbled onto your Mohawk College Retirees site quite recently, but never had a chance to check it out. I hope you don't mind an alumnus taking a peek at some of the newsletters. Had a chance to look at a few of them (2008 onward). It gave a very fond walk through memory lane, as I saw a number of familiar names that I knew from my attendance at the Fennel campus from 71 through 74 when I took the 3 year Electronics technology programme: Hans Bastel (computers), Geoff Brooker (registrar), Bill Brown, Don Harvey, Bruce Hutchinson (Electronics), Lloyd Smith (Industrial Management) were very familiar names as I attended my courses. If you happen to speak to any of these gentlemen, please give them my regards. Don't think they'll remember me - too many students, too many years since we would have last met (74)!
