Fundraising Pack Your fundraising will help us reach more vulnerable young people across the UK, helping them find hope and stay safe in times of distress and despair – and we’re thrilled to have you on board! “ Fundraising for PAPYRUS has been an absolute pleasure!” (Registered charity no. 1070896) - Sophie, Wigan What your fundraising means… As the national charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide in the UK, we rely on fundraising and donations to keep our services running. “ A young man rang the PAPYRUS helpline, HOPELineUK, intent on saying goodbye. By listening to his concerns and talking to him, he agreed that we ought to get him some help right now and keep him safe… A few weeks later, we received a call from the same young man: don’t want to give my name but I just “ Iwant to say thank you to the person who got the police. They found me with the helicopter. … I still have bad days but I know where you are if it gets to that stage again. ’’ Now he is back with his support network and has found the confidence to share his most anxious and suicidal thoughts with some of his family and others who can help him stay safe.* ’’ *The caller’s details have been changed in line with our confidentiality policy PAPYRUS believes suicide need not be the inevitable outcome of feeling suicidal and that with the right help, support and advice, together we can save young lives. Your help allows us to keep our services running, offering a life line to young people at risk of suicide and creating suicide safer communities across the UK. How your money helps As a small charity, the money you raise has a huge impact on the difference we are able to make as we work towards suicide-safer communities across the UK. Here are just some of the ways your contributions can help to save young lives. £15 £50 can pay for one 20 minute call to help a young person in distress overcome their pain and stay safe can keep our helpline, text and email services running for over an hour can cover the cost of training someone in suicide intervention skills £200 £350 would allow a trained mental health worker from PAPYRUS to deliver 5 suicide prevention class room lessons to students and teacher 0 £100 £200 0 would help us deliver 10 suicideTALK sessions to those who work with or care for young people, enabling them recognise and respond to suicidal behaviour would keep our helpline, HOPELineUK, alongside our text and email support services open for vulnerable young people and those around them for an entire week. Everyone got behind the cause and we had great support from our suppliers and colleagues in pulling together a bumper set of prizes for a raffle. We also ran a ‘Make your own Lampshade’ class in our staff cafe which was a brilliant opportunity to get people together for a fun evening with the added bonus of raising money.
