There were many exciting choices for the kids to pick from and they had a blast putting so much thought into their selections. Fourth grade student Connor McCray enjoyed being the “First Official Shopper” after winning this title at this year’s Family Fun Fest Silent Auction. Thank you to the committee members who spent countless hours of shopping over the past year and preparing for this fun event. Also a big thanks to the many parent volunteers. Whether you donated candy, ribbon or tissue... worked a shift, shopped, or did paperwork, we appreciate your efforts. Enjoy your gifts! Our first Movie Night on Friday, December 5 was such fun! 86 students enjoyed an evening at Deer Ridge surrounded by friends and laughter while viewing The Lego Movie. Thanks to the numerous volunteers who gave their time to make popcorn, sell concessions, chaperone during the movie and overall keep the night running smoothly. The kids are lucky to have people like you to help make events like this happen. Don’t forget to keep reloading and using your Kroger Cares Card when stocking up on groceries over the winter break. A percentage of your purchases comes back to Deer Ridge! Deer Ridge Elementary PTC @DRESVoyagers Deer Ridge Elementary Teacher Appreciation Luncheon Thank you to everyone who has donated a food item for our previous luncheons. Our book sales reached almost $10,000 which will help our library get new books for everyone to use. Thank you to all of the volunteers that helped make the Book Fair a success. For everyone that helped with set-up, tear-down, Kindergarten Reading Night, Bingo Night, Morning with Mom, baking cookies, running the registers, and of course buying books… we couldn’t have done it without you! Many of you filled in last minute or picked up an extra shift or were talked into an extra job… again, we cannot thank you enough. We hope to see the same enthusiasm at our spring fair. We Want Your Labels We will be having another Box Tops contest starting in January so remember to keep clipping and collecting those labels over the holidays. Deer Ridge receives thousands of dollars and important equipment each year from the Box Tops Program, Campbell’s Labels for Education and our newest Aunt Millie’s School Spirit Program. These labels can be found on hundreds of grocery items. Our school contest will run January 12-30. The classroom to collect the most labels will win a prize! Thank you for your support. For more information on these programs, please visit: www.boxtops4education.com www.auntmillies.com/School-Spirit.aspx www.labelsforeducation.com Be on the lookout for more details on our Family Snowball Dance in January! When the weather outside is frightful, good times with friends are delightful. Join us for an evening filled with music, dancing and games. Sure to be a blast of fun for everyone. Deer Ridge Elementary PTC @DRESVoyagers Deer Ridge Elementary December 2014 / January 2015 From the PTC President… STUDENT SPOTLIGHT It is hard to believe this school year is already half over! We have had some very exciting and successful events since August. Thanks so much to all of the parents, teachers, staff and administrators who have volunteered their time and energy to make these events happen. Take a look at all of the activities that were made possible by our Deer Ridge Family: Over the past few months, the students have been hard at work showcasing their musical talents. Kindergarteners took the stage in October to perform Tyme for a Rhyme. Then both the third and fourth grade students got the school rockin’ and rollin’ this past week with the fabulous productions of Jingle Bell Jukebox. A huge round of applause goes out to our music teacher, Sue Caudill and Bonnie McCray, our designated choreographer for putting together these spectacular shows. Also, thank you to the many parent volunteers who kept busy behind the scenes. Your dedication to the kids does not go unnoticed. • Family Fun Fest • Box Tops/Campbell’s Labels • Holly Days Craft Show • Fall Book Fair • Kindergarten Reading Night • Bingo Night • Morning with Mom • Holiday Shoppe • Teacher Appreciation Luncheons • Movie Night We are looking forward to an exciting New Year and have already begun planning our future events!!!
