Art Camp 2015--Class Descriptions We cannot promise you the classes you choose will be the ones you get. Class sizes are limited All classes will not be meeting every day so we need to fit you in as to which classes will be open This list begins with the Core Classes (meet more than one day – required to be there all the days offered to complete the class) American Flag Mania – (3rd-6th) 2 day class Ballet - (3rd-8th) Show how much you love the good ‘ole Red White and Blue! Make a flag from pre-cut wood and stars, paint it and let the banner fly! Archery - (5th-8th) 3 day class Now is your chance to learn the basics of classical Ballet. Campers will learn the foundations of ballet including the six positions of the feet and different steps. They will also learn a ballet dance to perform at the end of the week. Little or no ballet experience is needed. Bead Sun Catcher Art - (2nd-8th) 2 day class Oh Yeah! Shoot the arrows at the target and get the feel of a bow in your hands. This activity is carefully supervised by Grand Valley Sporting Goods. Take a variety of pony beads and arrange them to a design of your liking in a cake pan or muffin tin. Bake at 400 degrees, cool and hang up outside or in your bedroom window to catch the sun. Bird House Decorating - (2nd-5th) 2 day class This is a junktique birdhouse: You’ll use an unbelievable assortment of “junk” to create a birdhouse that is as quirky and original as you wish it to be. Eyeglass Case Clutch Purse – (5th-8th) 2 day class Upcycle a large capacity eye glass case into a clutch purse decorated with recycled jewelry and beads Bug Box/Book Ends/ Heart Boxes – (5th-8th) 2 day class Guitar – Beginners – (4th-8th) 4 day class Bug Box-Catch 'um and watch'um (bugs that is) in your little bug box made just the right size for fun on a summer day. God's little creations are all around you on what might be a "hohum" day without your newly crafted bug box. If time allows also book ends & heart boxes Cake Decorating – (5th-8th) 2 day class Learn first year guitar basics. This class is taught by an experienced and fun teacher who will guide you through all the steps of the delights of making music on a stringed instrument. Horse Care II – (5th-8th) 2 day class Lego - (2nd-8th) take a min. of 2 days or sign up for all 5 days A class about horses? Of course! This class is a great opportunity for those kids who LOVE horses but have little to no experience with them. This is the perfect class for those little horse lovers in your home who dream of owning a horse. They'll keep your little cowboy or cowgirl safe! We will again be making a variety of items this year. Sets for the beginners and sets for those that like technic challenges. Little Fairy House Construction - (2nd-8th) 2 day class Requirements: CLOSED TOED SHOES! On the second day of class, the students will need a helmet (a bike helmet works great!) because they will have an opportunity to ride. If they do not have a helmet, there will be ones provided. Students cannot have allergies to horses!! NOTE: If your student rides on a frequent basis or is around horses all the time, we ask that they do not sign up. This class is designed for those who don't have experience or are not able to be around horses all the time. Also, if your student took horse class last year, PLEASE do not sign up. The material taught and activities done will be the same as last year. But they are more than welcome to come and visit Cash. :) THANK YOU!!! Kids in the Kitchen Salsa/Canning - (6th-8th) 2 day class Just imagine what you can do with a little pixie dust and a few other objects. Make a little fairy house for little fairies who fly through the forest looking for a place to rest their wings. These are individual creations made from found objects such as moss, stones, sticks and pixie dust. Rock Painting - (6th -8th) – 2 day class Take home a jar of Zesty Salsa that we will make and can from scratch. Learn how to read a recipe, scald tomatoes, chop vegetables, and preserve food using hot water bath canning. Paint stones to make a potted cactus plant and more! Tae Kwon Do - (2nd-8th) -5 day class This is the premier Korean Marshall Art taught by our black belt resident, Emily Rae Billing. We offer a beginner and 2nd year class this year. nd th These are Elective Classes (2 -8 ) (only require you to take one class even though offered more than one day. You may take more than one if you like and if there is room!) Bandana Pillows – (2nd-8th) A little flair of the old west made out of a soft pillow and two bandanas. Tie up the edges and bingo you have your own personalized pillow. Bicycle Maintenance - (5th -8th) Bottle Cap Art - (2nd-8th) What a fun little item to use for a necklace or key chain. Lots of small miniature objects that you glue into a new bottle cap. Button Monogram - (2nd – 8th) Learn how to maintain your bike for optimal performance. Clean the chain, line up the wheels, clean the chrome and paint job. Book Page Wreath - (5th-8th) Make a 22” bejeweled paper dahlia to adorn your wall. Uses upcycled book pages and a brooch/pin. The perfect wall art for your home or play space! Designed and handcrafted to your liking using different color, size and type of new and old buttons Duct Tape Creations Girls - (2nd-8th) Card Making - (2nd-8th) You can choose to make several cards using a variety of supplies. Your imagination is the limit! nd th Cookie Bouquets - (2 -8 ) We welcome back Glynda, our song leader who taught this very popular class last year. Have fun picking out zebra, leopard, neon or polka dot prints. Make a purse or bag of durable, bright and eye catching duct tape. Gear Masks – 2nd-8th) An edible art project made of decorated sugar cookies “planted” in a pot and wrapped just right so you can give it as a gift or keep it for yourself. Duct Tape Creations Boys - (2nd-8th) Facial Masks made from computer parts and other electronic mechanical “junk”. Come and find out what the boys have conjured up this year out of duct tape. Might be a belt or billfold. Great patterns and colors now available for a one of a kind money holder or pants holder upper. Fairy Garden - (2nd-8th) Hand and Foot Art - (2nd-5th) You will design a miniature garden, planting several kinds of plants. You'll make a patio and pathway where you place tiny furniture for the fairies to use. There will be supplies available for you to design more accessories. Use your hands and feet, and your creative abilities to make a piece of art that is inspirational and one-of-a -kind. Floral Arranging - (2nd-8th) Jar Lantern - (2nd-8th) Everyone should know how to position fresh flowers in a vase to make it look like you bought it from the florist. Flowers just make for a happier day! Create a lantern or vase with tissue paper decoupage Kids in the Kitchen-Fruit Smoothies - (2nd-8th) Fly Fishing Lures – (4th-8th) Happy fishing with your own special handmade lure. Make cool and fruity healthy summer snacks with yogurt, ice cream and fruit. Yum!! Kids in the Kitchen-Jam & Jelly (2nd-8th) Photo Booth – (5th-8th) We will be mashing, measuring, mixing yummy garden fresh strawberries into our very own homemade jam! Marker Art - (2nd-8th) This is a very relaxing and fun art out of no other than Magic Markers. Draw and color to relaxing music that will take you to a quiet place. Discover color shape and form. Take your one of a kind picture and frame, display and admire all summer long. Selfie anyone! We will be taking some fun self portraits and with some cut, crop & pasting we will turn our creation into a photo booth film stripe! Plaster Hand – (5th-8th) Photo Book Project - (2nd-8th) Learn how to take pictures and see things in a different light. At the end of the week you will receive a little photo book with all the images you’ve taken. In this project we will plaster cast one of our hands in a sign language symbol and turn it into a free standing sculpture. Ribbon Flip Flops – (2nd-8th) Shrinky Dinks - (2nd-8th) Make your summer feet look happy with the easy tie and wear flip flop creations with silk ribbon and a pair of flip flops just your size. Make it multi colored or just one fun color, paint your toe nails and take a walk to show them off. Bring your flip flops!! Remember the special plastic that you color, cut and bake? It shrinks to miniature size, the colors pop and you have an embellishment for a key chain or necklace. th Slime - (2nd – 8th) th Sandcastle Multi Media Art - (5 -8 ) Paint a multimedia picture on canvas of a sandcastle on a beach, Artists will use paint, paper, and other found objects. Sharpie Tie Dye T-shirt - (2nd-8th) Tie dye creation using permanent markers We will make 2 different kinds of slime that each camper will get to take home: galaxy slime and glow-in-the-dark slime. Stained Glass - (2nd – 8th) Stepping Stones-(2nd-8th) 2 day class Tile Coasters - (2nd-8th) Personalized tile coasters made from ceramic tiles, various papers and decoupage glue. You will make a set of 4 for yourself or someone you love. Here comes the cement truck! This solid piece of carefully poured cement makes a beautiful garden decoration. Molds will be used to pour the cement into and then you decorate it with colorful glass stones. This will take one hour on Monday, Tile Trivets – (5th-8th) and will be ready for Friday’s picnic. Snowflakes in June – (2nd-5th) Glass tile trivet. With a little plaster along with glass tiles and an eye for pattern you will create a long lasting memento of Lamont Art Camp. Your mom can use it for a hot casserole to sit on or you can hang it to show it off. Make a variety of snowflakes using various materials from paper, crystal beads, and even Q-tips. Tule Tutus - (2nd – 8th) This is a no-sew project. Make a tutu for you or a little someone by tying a series of knots at the waist band. Easy and fun. Wall Décor Cross (Bedspring Art) – (5th-8th) You'll be using old bed springs to make a rustic cross by putting springs together, winding wires around the springs and bending them to get the right effect. A burlap bow will finish off the front of your lovely dimensional wall decoration. Wood Working Birdhouse- (4th-6th) Make a basic Blue bird house with Mr. Vern…a new little home for a homeless bird.
