CHILDREN 0-4 YEARS PURE ECO BABY WOOL & PURE ECO WOOL DG324 PURE ECO BABY LOVE PURE ECO BABY WOOL Ethical & organic yarn # 324 PURE ECO BABY WOOL – when only the best is good enough We are happy to introduce a new member of the Pure Eco-family: Pure ECO Baby Wool, a 100 % pure, new wool, a beautiful organic and ethical yarn. The yarn is a favorite for baby, but also an excellent choice for finer garments such as pullovers, cardigans and skirts for children and adults. If you value the best wool quality for your garments, Dale Pure Eco is for you. For soakers, we recommend a wool detergent that contains lanolin. Lanolin is a natural ingredient that increases the self cleaning property and the ability to absorb moisture. It creates a wool garment well-suited for use as soakers, wool underwear, socks and other sports wear. Regular use of wool wash gives the garment the best care. Your guarantee! Pure ECO Baby Wool is GOTS² and ICEA¹ certified. This guarantees that the animals who have provided this yarn have been treated ethically, and that the entire production, including cleaning and dyeing considers the welfare of people, animals, and the environment. This method minimizes the risk of allergies, illness, and environmental damage. We hope you will find a new favorite in our PURE ECO Baby Wool and wish you a pleasant knitting experience! Pure ECO-greetings from Margaretha Finseth Design & Brand Manager House of Yarn Remember, Dale Pure ECO Baby Ull and Dale Baby Ull are interchangeable. You will get a general understanding of the knitting process and may avoid making mistakes. Choose the right yarn For the best result, we recommend using the yarn the pattern is written for. Even if yarn has the same yardage, meaning the same numbers of meters per gram, it may have a different stitch definition. Yarn with different volume will differ in the number of stitches per 10 centimeter stitch wise and the number of rows length wise. Watch the gauge For your garment to come out according to the measurements and shape given in the pattern, you need to knit to gauge. Everyone does not knit the same. If your gauge is looser, the garment turns out larger. If your gauge is tighter, the garment will be smaller. Make a gauge swatch Check the gauge by making a gauge swatch. Count the number of stitches for 10 cm width wise. If you have more stitches than listed, change to larger needles. If you have fewer stitches, change to smaller needles. Everyone knits slightly differently, and the needle size given is merely a suggestion. Just one size up or down can make a difference. Wash the knitted garments with tender loving care If you do it correctly, washing the garments in a machine is actually gentler than washing by hand. Newer washing machine models have great wool washing programs. Wool and silk programs allow minimal mechanical handling and wash wool without felting. If you have a delicate garment in alpaca or silk, turn it inside out and place it in a large laundry bag before washing using the correct machine program. We recommend 40°C for superwash wool and 30°C for fine alpaca, silk and non treated wool. You should use special detergent for wool and silk. The same goes for wool blends. Wash cotton in 40°C on delicate with detergent for delicates. 57 Dry your knitted garments with care also When washing in the machine excess water is spun out of the garment. Do not hang knitted pieces to dry. Some garments sag and lose the shape. Stretch the garment lightly in shape both length wise and width wise. Place it flat on a towel and leave it to dry. Steam it correctly You can, if necessary, steam knitted garments lightly under a damp cloth. Wring up the cloth in clean water and eliminate excess water. Turn the garment inside out, place the cloth on the garment and keep the iron a couple millimeters over it to make the steam hit the garment. Do not press the iron down on the garment. It may turn out flat and some of the airy structure disappears. Think when you felt Both knitted and crocheted garments can be felted in the machine if you use 100 % pure wool. Super-wash treated yarn will not felt. Wash what you want to felt on delicate 30° to 40°C, but be aware that different machines felt differently, so you may need to do some test runs. Generally large garments felt more than small garments, and loose knits felt more than tighter knits. Stretch the garment in shape while wet and dry flat. Brake all rules The most important ingredient in a creative process is the knowledge about fibers, how the fiber behaves while knitting, as a finished product, and in the washing process. You should also have an understanding of the characteristics like if the yarn will felt or not, or if the insulation is good or not. Do not choose the cheapest synthetic yarn for your next heirloom piece, allow a little more money on yarn for something you will spend hours and hours making and wearing. Other than that, you can do what you want! Experiment with techniques, yarn and gauge. Challenge yourself to make your own patterns. Pick your personal favorite colors. Test and try to see what happens. If it turns out to be completely wrong, you will still have learned something. Dale Garn wish you well with needles and yarn! 58 YARN – Yarns and colors used in this catalog 59 10 3 28 10 PURE ECO BABY WOOL 100 % organic wool GOTS and ICEA certified yarn Produced in Italy 2.5 32 50 grams = approx 160 meters • • • • • Wool wash 30 °C Wash wrong side out Use detergent for wool/silk - preferably organic Do not use fabric softener Dry flat Dale Pure ECO Baby Wool is a 4-ply lofty, light, soft yarn with all the characteristics of wool.
