Angela is an art teacher for Norfolk Public Schools and has been working with glass for 15 years. 22. 518 New Jersey Ave. – Sarah Ludwig – Watercolor, oil, acrylic & graphite – Sarah has lived in Norfolk since 2012 and has been painting portraits of U.S. Navy ships since 2010, when she met her husband who was in the Navy. 23. 441 New Jersey Ave. – Lynn A. Hembree – Acrylic painting & jewelry – Lynn is a Norfolk native & professional artist for 20 years, who specializes in local wildlife, birds, seascapes, garden scapes and pet portraits. 24. 433 New York Ave. – Stephanie Hale – Mixed media & paper crafts – A professional graphic designer for 20 years, in her free time, Stephanie creates wreaths, paper lanterns, ornaments & other unique home decor. 25. 427 New York Ave. – Katie Whitestone – Upcycled greeting cards – The Navy brought Katie to CPRV in September 2007. She volunteers at the Zoo as an education docent and is currently a Parks & Recreation mayor at ODU. 26. 416 New York Ave. – Kate Gessner – Glass – Hand crafted, stained glass. 27. 518 New York Ave. – Monica Donaldson – Mixed media – Using industrial mops, Monica makes dolls of every color, decorated with ribbon, flowers, beads & buttons. 28. 529 New York Ave. – Mandy Garrett – Oil, acrylics & watercolor – Mandy is an eclectic artist raised in Charleston, SC, inspired by the shapes of trees, light on water and the feminine form, who creates whimsical, yet usable, ready-to-hang pieces. 29. 4620 Newport Ave. – Shelly J. Parks – Note cards – A Norfolk native, Shelly works for Norfolk Public Schools and makes note cards – simple, sparkly, funny or serious, to suit a variety of tastes. 30. 510 Connecticut Ave. – Beth Austin – Photography – Beth is a published rock’n’roll & lifestyle photographer, who has been showing and selling her work since 1999. She can be found shooting live music nearly every weekiend in and around the Norfolk area. 31. 4709 Colonial Ave. – Véro Tucker – Textile & fiber – Véro creates oneof-a-kind wearable accessories such as shrugs, shawls, hats, necklaces, headbands & fingerless mittens. 32. 441 Connecticut Ave. – Kristin Bourcier – Mosaic art – Since 2002, Kristin has been creating glass and tile pictures, tables & home ornaments inspired by her love of color and light. 33. 433 Connecticut Ave. – Suzie Berg – Fibers – After 30+ years as a dollmaker (juried by Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen) Suzie is currently working with hand & kettle dyed yarns. 34. 419 Connecticut Ave. – Janine Roman – Repurposed furniture & decor – Janine enjoys turning unwanted ‘junk’ into entirely new treasures, by transforming old materials into something unique & beautiful: decorating pieces, doll furniture, wall accents & more. 35. 621 Massachusetts Ave. – Kim Keene – Oil & acrylics – Kim graduated from Virginia Wesleyan College with a degree in fine arts and then went on to own an art gallery & frame shop in North Carolina, as well as an artists’ salon in Croatia. Her husband is a retired art professor and likes Debbie’s ‘naive’ art work – her family is very encouraging. 3 20. 615 New Jersey Ave. – Ben Wyatt Bridges – Fingerpaints on canvas – At 22 months old, Ben is very interested in learning about the world around and he enjoys music, art and swimming. He has a dedicated daily art time when he wears his red or blue smock and experiments with all kinds of mediums.
