CRYSTAL BALLROOM
Unveiled in 1927 as the Italianate Ballroom, this private socialite salon was built to compliment the hotel’s original
Grand Ballroom. Restored to rival its original splendor, the Crystal Ballroom today boasts a restored travertine
floor, embellished European plasterwork and a hand painted ceiling. This signature room sparkles with four
dazzling Czechoslovakian Crystal chandeliers, a romantic fireplace and is adjoined by a marble lined reception
foyer with an intricate Spanish Colonial carved ceiling and original bronze entry doors.
Accommodates 200 for reception, 120 for dinner and 220 for ceremony.
PALM COURT
Graced with four magnificent grand columns and flanked by a wall of west facing windows, The Palm Court
honors the legendary vision of the hotel’s circa 1910 garden terrace above the lobby. This magnificent space
originally opened to the public as the Grant Hotel Dining Room replete with white and green patterned tile floor,
wood paneled wainscoting and elegant brass and cast iron chandeliers. The dining room was the city’s premier
venue for gourmet cuisine elevating the city from boom town to cosmopolitan city. Today the stately ballroom
provides an inviting backdrop, day and night.
Accommodates 300 for reception, 180 for dinner and 200 for ceremony.

CELESTIAL BALLROOM
The heart of soul of this National Register of Historic Places Hotel, the Celestial Ballroom embodies all that is the
legend and legacy. The elegant ribs of the vaulted ceiling are hand painted and lacquered in subtle shades of
metallic blue and supported by grand columns intricately restored to the detailed woodwork of the room’s 1930’s
heyday as San Diego’s supper club and speakeasy. Almost 6,000 square feet of space are accented by hand blown
Italian chandeliers and wool carpets designed to complement the original Spanish tiles of the south entry foyer.
Upon entering the enchanting space, you are immersed in timeless elegance as the ballroom’s 19th century
ambiance is enhanced with modern day technology. Tranquil shades of blue and brown bring innate serenity to
the romantic space, and a built-in stage provides an opportunity for entertainment or bridal parties to see and be
seen. Accomodates 400 for reception, 250 for dinner and 250 for ceremony.
PRESIDENTIAL BALLROOM
Where history has been made, the space this magnificent ballroom occupies was the hotel’s original open air terrace,
designed by Balboa Park pioneer, Kate Sessions. Later enclosed to create a grand ballroom, today, the aptly named
Presidential Ballroom boasts a spacious reception foyer and multiple adjoining event rooms, twin barrel vaulted
ceilings with four crystal chandeliers, beaux arts design and a 1,100 square foot theatrical stage. Named in honor of
the 14 U.S. Presidents who have stayed at the hotel over the last century, the Presidential Ballroom is the ultimate
setting for a distinctive event.
Accommodates 700 for reception and 450 for dinner.
CHAIRMANS COURT
This room was originally the Gentlemen’s Lounge and served as
part of the Speakeasy during Prohibition. It features the original
wood floors, wood panels, mirrors, molding and doors. This
room is perfect for an intimate ceremony or rehearsal dinner, or
groom’s ready room.
Accommodates 70 for reception, 40 for dinner and
70 for ceremony.
CHAFFEE COURT
Built originally as a ladies lounge, the Chaffee Court today provides a
charming backdrop for events and given the storied history, serves as a
fitting bridal ready room. Steeped in shades of pearl with plush
carpeting and full length hanging mirrors, Chaffee Court’s ambiance is
ultimately chic.
Accommodates 30 for reception and 20 for dinner.
