The concerts at Holy Trinity are sponsored

the MRC d’Argenteuil and by the Caisse
Desjardins d’Argenteuil.
Les Charbonniers de l'Enfer, a one-of-akind a capella group and veritable dream team
of musicians playing Quebec’s traditional
music, will grace Holy Trinity Church with a
rare acoustic concert at 8 pm on Friday
September 7th.
Like a time machine, their voices, their harmonies
and their rhythms transport us into Quebec’s rich
cultural past. Les Charbonniers de l'Enfer has
been burning up the boards across Québec for the
past 13 years. As Quebec’s only a capella group
specialising in Quebec’s traditional music, they
add the rhythmic tapping of their feet to the
breath-taking harmony of their voices!
Formed of five experienced singers - Michel
Bordeleau, Michel Faubert, André Marchand,
Jean-Claude Mirandette and Normand Miron – the
group’s harmonies are rooted in Quebec’s oral
tradition. Their approach is original and creative,
blending modern interpretation of traditional songs
with traditional interpretation of modern songs,
thus assuring continuity between past and present.
After their very successful performances with
Gilles Vigneault, the singers of Les
Charbonniers de l'Enfer are all fired up
about their new album « Nouvelles
fréquentations ». On this innovative album, the
group sings a contemporary repertoire which
runs from Neil Young to Félix Leclerc, from
the McGarrigle sisters to Bertolt Brecht, by
way of Noir désir, Daniel Lanois, Plume,
Cassonnade, Daniel Lavoie, Florent Folant,
Dédé Fortin and Marcel Martel. The voices
and foot rhythms that define the group sound
emerge from the music of all these composers;
it’s tomorrow’s traditional music!
Les Charbonniers de l’Enfer’s 6 albums have
received 12 nominations for the Canadian
Folk Awards or the ADISQ Awards. “Les

WORD OF THE MAYOR
This month I would like to take the time to
acknowledge volunteers from our community
who give so much of their time to better the
lives of others. As you know the municipality
has many ongoing projects such as the
back to school project, Christmas basket
project, children’s celebrations, community
breakfasts, etc… These projects could not see
the light of day without our dedicated
volunteers. This past weekend we distributed
school supplies to 30 needy children from our
community. This project, spearheaded by
Rose Manconi and Linda Barr Marier as well
as the Holy Trinity church, has become a
great success and is appreciated by its
beneficiaries. It gladdens my heart to see so
many residents implicated in the welfare of
others. Hearty congratulations to all of you!
You should be proud of the work you do.

WORD FROM THE INSPECTORS
I would like to thank all the residents who
emptied their septic tanks. The septic system
campaign has been a great success. For those
of you who have not yet conformed to the
regulation, the deadline to do so is October
1st, 2012. For residents who need to empty
their septic in 2012, winter is fast approaching;
it is much easier to empty your septic system
when the ground is not frozen. When you
empty your tank, please do not forget to bring
your receipt to the municipality. Thank you
to all.
FOXES
If you drive on Cambria road
around Rogers road you have
surely seen the foxes. We have
noticed that many residents feed
them. There are many
disadvantages to feeding them.
Firstly; they become more and more
domesticated, secondly; they come into the
road when they hear a vehicle approaching
and risk getting hit, and lastly; when you feed
a wild animal this animal doesn’t learn to feed
himself. What happens in the winter when
there are fewer residents in Gore? WE ASK
THAT YOU REFRAIN FROM FEEDING

Nourri-Source Argenteuil is organizing
activities in conjunction with World
OUR SENIORS
Breastfeeding Week, the goal of which is to
promote breastfeeding. In North America this
event will run from September 29th to October
4th, 2012.

The send-off will occur on Saturday,
September 29th at 10:00 am with the
International Breastfeeding Challenge. All
mothers are invited to the Carrefour

offered to the first 30 registered mother-child
couples. In addition there will be door prizes
and a light snack offered. An event not to be

There is a
program from
the « Sûreté
du Québec »
which allows
you to mark
your goods.
This program
has proven
effective and
constitutes a
good dissuasive method
in case of break-ins. This is but one
preventive service offered by the SQ free of
charge. Preparing a list of your goods that
will be burnished for you to keep, stickers
specifying that your goods are marked which
should be placed in a strategic area will help
you deal with an unpleasant situation if
it should arise. For more information,

TEXT MESSAGING
AND DRIVING
With all the technical advances in
communication, we now have the possibility
to communicate by different means, at any
time and anywhere. One easy and efficient
way is text messaging.
When driving a vehicle, you must constantly
be alert and attentive. Texting while driving
creates a great distraction which increases the
risk of accidents seeing that you must keep
your eyes off the road for 4 to 6 seconds.
At a speed of 90 km/h, it’s like
crossing a football field with your
eyes closed.
According to the highway safety
code, it is forbidden to talk or text
with a cellular telephone in hand
while driving. This infraction
leads to fines of $80 to $100 and
3 points.
Here are a few suggestions which might
help avoid consequences and could save
lives:
• Before taking the road, turn off your cell
phone.
• If you must use your cell phone, do it in
complete safety. Stop your vehicle in an
area where parking is permitted.
• You can ask one of your passengers to
read or write your text messages for you.
• If the temptation is too strong, before
taking the road, place your cell phone out
of reach, such as the vehicle’s trunk.
The « Sûreté du Québec », supports the new
« Société de l’assurance automobile du
Québec » (SAAQ) awareness campaign
entitled some words hit hard. The SQ will
be conducting operations on this subject over
the next few weeks.

FIRE METERS AND
THEIR MEANING
Erratum: In the August Express it
was written that fireworks are never
permitted in the municipality. It
should have been written that
fireworks are not permitted in the
municipality when the fire meter is on
red or yellow. When the fire meter is
on blue or green, fireworks are
allowed but never after 11:00 pm.
