CALL FOR ENTRIES
The search is now on in Singapore for a top sushi chef
who will represent the country at the inaugural Global
Sushi Challenge 2015 in Tokyo, Japan this November.
Organised by the Norwegian Seafood Council and the
World Sushi Skills Institute, in collaboration with SHATEC,
the competition is open to non Japanese sushi chefs with
a minimum of three years working experience and will be
judged on two categories: Edo Mae Sushi and Creative
“Free Style” Sushi.
The World Sushi Skills Institute/ All Japan Sushi Association
will also be conducting a Professional Accreditation Sushi
Seminar as a prelude to the competition, which will be
open to all chefs. The two-day course will include theory
and practical sessions, and participants will be required
to take a test to qualify for the International Sushi
Proficiency Certificate, which is the only globally
approved professional recognition by the official sushi
body in Japan. Selected finalists who wish to attend the
course will be exempted from paying the course fee of
S$ 340.00.

number of 20 contestants will be selected to take part in
the national finals on 9 July 2015.
