With the perfect weather we had been having our group decided to go on a
boat ride at City Lake Park. The group enjoyed the beautiful sites and sounds of
nature. In addition to the peaceful water the students saw different animals,
islands, and beautiful homes by the lake. If you get a chance, we definitely
recommend going for a ride at the park.
At the High Point Library, located in downtown High Point, our group saw
"Robin Hood" the play. This production consisted of 2 actors one male and one
female, who switch off playing different characters. This play was free and open to
the public. The show was full of fun and excitement with interaction with the
audience. The students had a great time and enjoyed the show.

This summer we explored
the continent of Europe. We
learned about Germany,
Italy, Ireland and Spain. We
learned fun facts about
each country and hot topics
surrounding those
countries. We sampled
recipes and enjoyed their
music. We learned some
words in the language or
learned to write our name.
We found out that all of the
countries love to play
soccer. Next month- off to
Africa!
Out in the Community
This month we have been able to get outside
in the sunshine as well as chill out at the movies.
We divided into groups and had a scavenger hunt
on the waterfront. Did you know we had to find a
horse and carriage, a musician, a water taxi, a
sculpture of a giant Venus Fly Trap and about a
dozen more! Our group found everything except
the red leather suit!

This month we choose to interview Alphanzo Parez. He Is responsible for managing a
visiting Spanish Galleon to our port in Wilmington. The name of this ship is the El Galeon.

century floating museum. Brendan and Ben took a video so others could see 'below'. We
hope to tour other ships to compare them in the future.
Question 1 What is the purpose of this ship?
Answer 1
Back in the day it was sent from the King of Spain to explore the American
Coastline. This "museum" was built to look like the ship that discovered St.

Answer 2
50-80. They had carpenters, cooks, sailors and many more. Now it is operated
by 20 people, many are volunteers.
Question 3 What makes it 'go'?
Answer 3
Back then it only used the wind in its sails. This ship has 2 engines they can use
when there is no breeze.
Question 4 How old is it?
Answer 4
It is 6 years old and it took 2 years to build.
Question 5 Did they were uniforms?
