Each Lions club will be allotted one voting delegate per 10 members. Based on our size, we will have the largest voting block at the convention based on the size of our membership one year prior to the election. As of April 2009 our club had 161 members. (As of April 1st 2010 our club will number 196 members) Therefore, we will have 15 voting 2 delegates. I need to provide a letter for the District Governor with a list of delegates from our club. A delegate MUST be present to vote. If you can attend the convention let me know. First 15 members responding will represent our club us voting delegates. Our club will have four members running for District office: Vice District Governor Second Vice District Governor Organ & Eye Bank Director Texas Lions Camp Director Tom Westerman John Paul Burnett Jon Niemczyk Jim Cook Voting will be on Saturday April 24th at approximately 5:00pm – 6:30pm. They need your vote to be elected. So, let me know if you can to be a voting delegate. We only have 10 Lions signed up as voting delegates and need five more. Election of Colleyville Lions Club Directors: Lion Dave Perella announced that there are three director positions available for a two year term of office effective July 1st. Any Lion in good standing interested in running for these positions need to contact Dave to have their name places on the ballot. As stated in the Colleyville Lions Club Bylaws: The Lions Club fiscal year begins July 1st. Therefore, all terms of office commence on July 1st of each year. We will elect three directors for a two-year term following the schedule set forth by the bylaws: • All candidates shall advise the Secretary by the close of the 3rd meeting before a schedule election date. – May 14th • Secretary shall announce at the 1st and 2nd meeting to election date the names of the nominees. – May 28th & May 21st • Secretary shall post on the web site such names and the scheduled election no later than the 2nd meeting. – May 21st • The election date for the directors is the first Friday in June at the regular 7:00am meeting. – June 4th A director sits on the Executive Board, which meets the first Wednesday of each month. All board members are expected to make every attempt to attend these meetings. The board recommends and approves all money allocations, cash donations, club social events as well as any others matter which come before the board. 2010 District 2-E2 Convention: The convention will be held at the Radisson Hotel South, 100 Alta Mesa East Blvd, Fort Worth on April 23rd – 24th . Will provide more convention details at a future membership meeting. March of Dimes Chili Cook Off: Lion Monique Kusman announced a Chili Cook off Saturday, April 24th from Noon – 5:00pm at Caliber Collision at 5900 Colleyville Blvd. Since the club will assist in the cooking, we will be listed as a sponsor on the flyer. Market Street is also going to be a sponsor. They have agreed to donate all the food that our Lions will be cooking (hot dogs etc...) Chili Teams will be $100 per team. Lions Recycle for Sight: YTD the club has collected 5,987 pairs of eyeglasses. This month the club collected a total of 1,085 pairs of eyeglasses. This week the following member contributed 1,086 pairs of eyeglasses. It was reported that if we also had an eating contest, Jim would have also won. Colleyville Texas Lions Camp Crew Central Collection Center: The next recycle processing is scheduled for Saturday, May 8th at the Westside Lions Club. We will clean, sort and measure our donated eyeglasses to be sent to Lions International Missions. Plan to leave the Colleyville Center @ 8:15am and return at noon. We will schedule the collection center visits the second Saturday of each month. Steak and Beans Membership Contest: And the WINNER …… is the The MAULERS. The Predators just did not have it in the final stretch!! Better luck next year!! Maulers - 544 Predators – 515 Presentation: Lindy Toner addressed the membership on the mission of Prevent Blindness which provides screening, eye exams and eyeglasses to children and adults. Max’s Scam: Lion Klaus Koch held the winning ticket and walked off with the booty. President Pamela Eckmann adjourned the meeting.
