BACKGROUND
• MCKIP was mooted in response to the China-Malaysia
Qinzhou Industrial Park which has been accorded
national-level status by the Chinese State Council.
• Malaysia’s Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak
has proposed that a similar park to be built in Gebeng,
Pahang to further strengthen Malaysia-China business
and economic ties.
• The establishment of the Malaysia-China Kuantan
Industrial Park (MCKIP) was announced by YAB Dato’ Sri
Najib in April 2012.
• Both YAB Dato’ Sri Najib and Premier Wen agreed to this
Project.
• Since then, officials from both Governments have met
and discussed key issues on policies & implementation
to ensure the success of MCKIP.
