Knowledge Hungry
Taleo had knowledge & information scattered among consultants,
engineers, as well as on a Microsoft Access database. Their
sales engineers and customer service consultants had no easier
way to access the knowledge from past implementations and
solutions. A sales engineer in Germany could be trying to solve
the same problem that was solved by their US counterparts few
months ago without direct access to a knowledge base.

They also needed to reduce the time to knowledge, which is
very important during lucrative sales deals or important
implementation cycles. A reduction of time to knowledge
directly benefit consultants and clients. Sending an email to a
small consultant base to gather information was considered
acceptable when Taleo was a smaller company. However as they
continue to grow globally, it is not an option. Whenever a
consultant leaves, without a knowledge base, they do so with

Staffing Topology Knowledge Base Solution
Given the complexity of the information structure and unique mining
requirements Taleo had, Calcey decided to develop a custom solution. Armed
with a small super-star team based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Calcey dived straight
in to the problem by coming up with a prototype within three weeks from the
engagement date.
Calcey’s solution was delivered within nine weeks fully loaded with data. It
reduced the time-to-knowledge across organizations while managing the ever
increasing amounts of information. This multi-tier Intranet based Solution was
built on Apache Tomcat Application Server using an Oracle database. Solution
included Security, Knowledge Categorization, Search, Mining, Data Entry, and
Knowledge base Administration tools.
