VAC delegate Henk de Groot advised that DNRE have noted that whilst conducting licence
checks a number of people have licensed birds not on their books and have told the authorities
that they have been purchased at bird sales where they have been told that they do not require
a licence. The VAC will develop a list of all birds that are held on licence to hand out at bird
sales.

See News & Events re: Aviary Visits
Due to the long discussion on the aviary visit we only had two pieces for discussion, the first
was a photo of a Lutino Red-vented Blue Bonnet that was photographed in Australia a number
of years ago that got members talking on mutations in the wild. This then led to Tod Osborne
giving a brief overview on the Blue galah, Tod agreed that with a bit of help to put together a
presentation he would do a talk at our Aviary visit in June. This will be a world first presentation
on the Blue Galah Mutation.

The usual suspects, aviary visit to/from and annual sale, took up the start of the meeting. All
appears to be coming together on all fronts.
A discussion was held regarding promoting aviculture through schools by way of setting up a
small aviary in the school grounds. After discussion it was agreed to talk with other clubs about
their experiences and look into it in more detail.
Rick Irwin [Ballarat branch] provided a presentation on his experiences in keeping Amazons. In
addition to his own experience he provided an overview of species/sub-species available in
Australia as well as a power point display of photo’s from around the world. Of most interest was
Rick’s observations on the distinct change in disposition these birds [mainly cocks] have in and
out of the breeding season.
