Islands

Raro Safari Tours
Welcome to the gorgeous Cook Islands! We hope our Cook Islands Restaurant and
Activities Guide will keep you in the loop of all there is to do and help you see, eat and
shop your way around our beautiful islands.
With over 50 restaurants and cafés in Rarotonga alone, a vibrant nightlife and a surprising
amount to do and see both on land and sea - endless adventures await.
With Rarotonga and Aitutaki being voted in the top 10 Best Islands in the South Pacific
by Trip Advisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards we know you will love to laze, swim or snorkel
on our beautiful beaches, in some of the bluest water, which rarely drop below 25°C year
round. There are also no nasty stingers in the water at any time of the year.
Check out the fun and relaxed nightlife scene with outdoor nightclubs, open-air bars
and even a special nightlife ‘party bus’ taking you to all the hot spots on the island.
Experience the Cooks’ invigorating drumming and dancing at cultural shows and island
nights, or take a dance class at your resort or the cultural centre in town.
There are endless ways to keep fit from stand-up-paddle boarding yoga, Zumba classes,
mountain bike riding and more. But if this sounds a little too fast paced, indulge in a spa
treatment or massage, or simply grab a cocktail and snuggle up in a hammock, slung
between two coconut palms.
However you choose to spend your time with us we hope you will have fun, unwind and
make memories that last for a lifetime.
We’re here to assist in anyway we can.

Matutu Brewery
You’ll find some of the best exponents of this fast
growing international sport in the Cook Islands. Watch
how the experts do it on Rarotonga’s Muri Lagoon and on
Aitutaki Lagoon and then hire some gear and catch the
breeze yourself.
Cook Islanders have a passion for sport and the nation
has fostered a disproportionate number of talented
players. Join a friendly game of league, rugby, soccer or
touch at a village footy field or catch the rugby Sevens in
Heaven in late October.
Tee off with a stunning mountain backdrop at Rarotonga’s
nine hole golf course, where you can hire everything you
need, or have a bit of fun at Coco Putt. Visitors are also
welcome to play a few ends at the bowling club or enter
the annual Bowls Carnival in July.
There are a number of challenging trails into the
mountains of Rarotonga. If those rocky peaks jutting high
above the tree canopy beckon, ask the visitor centre

footers with outriggers. Paddling outrigger canoes (oe
vaka) is also a serious sport in the Cooks. See outrigger
paddlers at Muri, Trader Jacks in Avarua, or on Aitutaki.
You can readily hire a bike to explore Rarotonga’s wild
green yonder and picturesque inland road or better yet
take a guided ride to learn how the island’s environment
informs its culture and history.
