The Cinco de Mayo parties and
festivities around town were lots of
fun. Chevys, also known for a great
happy hour with food and drink
specials, gave away prizes, and the
place was jumping with excitement.
The Cantina Bar and Grill for many
years, is always lots of fun on
Cinco day and everyone was full
of smiles. They also have good
food specials and happy hour deals.
Cabo Wabo at Harveys, Sammy
Hagar’s place, with their cool live
music and drink specials, was a
party like they create all the time.
That place rocks on the weekends
and always creates a good vibe to
hang out. Don’t forget their food in
the afternoon and evenings also.
Speaking of Sammy’s place,
Sammy Hagar and the Wabos
and special guest Michael Anthony
from Van Halen, played two sold out
shows at Harrah’s to help celebrate
the Cinco fun times also. Sammy is
the ultimate front man to keep the
party and rockin music going. It’s a
real treat to hear Van Halen songs
with Michael on bass and vocals
also. You can catch Sammy and The
Wabos at Harvey’s Outdoor Concert
Series this summer.
It’s that time of year for summer
time fun and events. Good weather
that locals and tourist enjoy every
year. Zephyr Cove Resort is very
popular with the marina renting
boats, wave runners, M.S. Dixie
cruises, Woodwind II sailing cruises,
Historic Thunderbird Lodge tour with
the classic Tahoe vessel, the Sunset
Bar for food and drinks, lodging and
restaurant, and the best volleyball
courts at any Tahoe beach and
more. The Beacon Bar and Grill
has live music from 2-6, the marina
with all the rentals you’ll want, cabins
to stay in, bike trails to ride, and
more. Valhalla next door has shows
and events in their Boathouse and
on the lawn. Always cool in that
area to check out. The Valhalla
Renaissance Faire at Camp
Richardson Resort is June 4-5
and 11-12. This is fun for the whole
family. If you have never been there
before or it’s been a while, check it
out; you’ll really enjoy yourself. Lots
of different entertainment, food,
and costumes, make it so special.
The Flight Deck Restaurant and
Bar at the Lake Tahoe Airport is
celebrating their 1 year anniversary
with a party on June 3rd. Known for
very reasonable prices for their food
and drinks, live music, daily food
specials, the mountain views, the
sky deck, Tom and the gang always
create good local fun. Lavish Green
will be celebrating their 16 year
Anniversary Party on June 30th from
8-12 with drink specials and good
time music that they always provide.
They have been a great local band
for Tahoe and have played all the
venues around town for years. Their
CD’s are excellent to pick up also.
Other outdoor dining areas to
enjoy are Brooks' Bar and Deck
at Edgewood, Sam’s Place,
Steamers, Blue Water Bistro,
MacDuff’s Pub, Mott Canyon, Fox
and Hound, just to name a few.
Harrah’s has Clint Holmes
June 4th, Elvin Bishop June11th
and The Temptations Review
featuring Dennis Edwards June
25th. Arthur Hervey at Center
Stage Friday and Saturday. Vex
Nightclub on Friday and Saturday
with sexy go-go dancers, adult sexy
dances –very hot—DJ music, aerial
shows and more. Harvey’s Outdoor
Concert Series kicks off with Diana
Krall June 18th. Just added are
Soundgarden and The Mars Volta
July 20th. Tickets go on sale June
10th. It’s another great variety of
music again for the outdoor shows
at Harvey’s.
MontBleu has rapper Wiz
Khalifa June 21st. The Crystal
Method June 24th and Lights
Camera Dance June 18th. Opal
Ultra Lounge and Blu Nightclub
have DJ’s, live music, go-go dancers,
body painting, great drink specials,
and more. The 49th annual Lake
Valley Firefighters Ball is June
18th at MontBleu. Pop Fiction
mixes all styles of music that you’ll
enjoy and this is a fun event!
June 21st, Late Nite Productions
has Summer Solstice Reggae
Beach Party with Mystic Roots
with Jon Wayne and The Pain at
Round Hill Pines Beach. This will
be a summer party, fun for all. Turn
3 will have a Fathers Day B-B-Q
with good food and drink specials.
They have 16 TV’s; always cool to
watch sports there.
Groove and Brews with Adient
Zoo. Bison, Tick Talk Trio, June
4th at Tallac Brewery.
And remember, the live music
will sooth your soul. Have FUN,
you’re in Tahoe.
Another Late Night with LateNiteBilly
Another month and another rain /
snow storm! Is Spring going to show
its face or are we going straight into
Summer this year?! Either way I’m fine
I suppose as long as Summer shows
its face! So I'm sure even if you didn't
attend, everyone saw the big pink bus
in town last week! I just finished my
Birthday run of events with Girls Gone
Wild and only one word can sum it up
- WOW! This has definitely become a
party that people look forward to all
year as it just keeps getting bigger
and better! Capacity crowd, beautiful
ladies and a crackin' party hosted by
yours truly. What more could I ask for
for my Birthday?! I even added one
more event in Tahoe City on seven
days notice and it was sold out! I
have to admit, working for Girls Gone
wild is such a blast I had to call my
office to see when I could get back
out on tour! But for now, lots of great
shows coming up so I'll be around for
at least a bit!
Now with the hopes that Summer
really will get here on time this year,
we are going to be celebrating its
arrival in a big way! On Thursday,
June 23rd I bring you the Summer
Solstice Reggae Beach Party at
Round Hill Pines Beach! We are
bringing in the Summer with two of
Reggae Music’s hardest working
bands Mystic Roots and Jon Wayne
& the Pain plus Tahoe’s favorite local
Reggae DJ Irieyes on the turntables
all night. I even have a few surprises
in store for everyone to make it an
even more memorable evening!
This is an amazing outdoor venue
and it really is a treat to put together
this party for everyone. All-ages are
welcome so bring all the friends and
family as we bring in the new season!
The party starts at 5pm.
Next up, the return of Delhi 2
Dublin! This was such a hit the first
time around, they had to come back
for more! Wednesday, July 13th we
hop over to Mo's Place once again.
Vancouver-based Delhi 2 Dublin is a
group of five musicians who mash up
electronic and world music, keeping
it heavy on the Bhangra, Celtic and
Dub flavors. Delhi 2 Dublin is nonstop world beat energy. Where else
can you see a purple haired female
fiddle player rocking out with a kiltwearing Korean flanked by two
bouncing bhangra percussionists and
a vocalist who looks like he would be
at home in a Bollywood music video?
These guys (and girl) are all about
energy. Come witness it for yourself!
KY-MANI MARLEY - Singer.
Actor. Author. Humanitarian.
...The
Marley
surname
perpetuates
Jamaican
royalty,
resonates world-wide recognition and
represents the pioneer of a cultural,
political and social revolution.
Reggae icon and legend Bob Marley
blessed the world with his timeless,
brilliant and message filled sound
which continues to inspire and
influence audiences today. With
such a living past, Bob Marley’s
conviction and passion for music
unintentionally was passed to the
lives of his offspring and has allowed
the Marley name to remain relevant
amongst the hierarchy of the reggae
sound. Ky-Mani is a fitting name for a
charismatic artist whose East African
name means “adventurous traveler.”
Born on February 26, 1976, Ky-Mani
Marley is the son of Bob Marley and
table tennis champion Anita Belnavis.
Ky-mani is the second youngest of
Bob’s eleven children. Catch this
once in a lifetime show on Sunday,
July 17th at Cal Neva Resort in
North Lake. All ages are welcome.
Billed as "Reggae at the Lake" the
famous Reggae Festival that was put
together years back by Renegade
Productions in Kings Beach, this is a
co-headline bill with Gramps Morgan
from Morgan Heritage. Reggae
Revolution 2011!
Later on in the season we will
bring back punk-rock pioneers, Dead
Kennedys for an all ages show at
The Underground in Reno on Friday,
August 5th and on the 9th and 10th
we are hosting the "Unophishal
Phish Afterparties" at Mo's Place
with the return of Melvin Seals and
JGB (Jerry Garcia Band). This is
still two months out and tickets are
already going like crazy so don't wait
till they are gone!
Till next time Tahoe - keep up the
love love and support and "Keep the
Vibe Alive"! ~LateNiteBilly

COMEDY FROM THE MOUNTAIN
Hello purveyors of the funny. I
don’t know how much snow will be
left when summer officially starts this
month but you know there’s going to
be a slab here and there and I jus think
it’s hilarious that there hasn’t been
a spring but merely an extension of
the winter season. You know it’s been
an abnormally long winter (I mean
c’mon let’s call it what it is) when the
ski resorts could have remained open
easily for another month (witness the
re-opening of Kirkwood and Squaw
over the Memorial Day weekend) ,
the much-anticipated AMGEN Tour of
California being canceled the last very
minute here due to snow and nobody
planting anything until after Father’s
Day and even that might be pushing it. I
mean why even bother now by the time
we plant anything it’ll be Halloween
right? Plastic flowers people. Play it safe
okay? Save yourself the heartbreak just
in case. One who never breaks hearts but
will break your spirit is Bob Zany. We
love Bob Zany as he is the bridge
between that style of comedy that you
would hear back in the 60s ala The
Rat Pack and today’s smart, edgy
and very topical which he delivers in
“The Zany Report” every week. That’s
right. As the proprietor of “The Zany
Report” (broadcast on over 160 radio
channels coast to coast) and heard
exclusively on my morning radio show
every Tuesday it’s more fun seeing
Bob than just hearing him. His facial
expressions are priceless too that
mimic what it is he’s saying. He has
a biting sense of humor and has the
chops to think very quickly on his toes.
Bob has been on so many shows I can’t
list them here but some include the
Showtime documentary, “I am Comic”
and on the big screen in the Matt
Damon movie, “The Informant!” playing
a lawyer. But Zany has taken that one
step further having just completed his
own documentary called “Close But
No Cigar.” It’s an autographical look
chronicling the life of Bob Zany with
numerous interviews from those Bob
met over the years some who have
become major players in the comedy
business. It’s very sobering seeing one
individual working a sweet gig as one
of the top writers for SNL and than cut
away seeing Bob leaving a one-nighter
he just performed at somewhere in
the Midwest. It’s the brutal reality of
comedy and Zany captures the ups
and downs along the way. Appearing
with Zany is Larry ‘Bubbles’ Brown
who is more than a little neurotic at
times and depressing. If that sounds
negative it isn’t meant to be because it’s
those traits that have served Bubbles
well. I remember when I first started
out we were booked together in Santa
Rosa and I couldn’t believe how down
on himself he was. I think that’s why
the audience was laughing so hard
probably thinking their lot on life must
be pretty good when compared to this
guy. One of the best weeks we ever
had was the time he was booked with
headliner Bob Zany and this marks
the second time the two have worked
together . When not bumming himself
out (and dragging us down with him)
he acts in movies (and not always as
depressing characters too). That was
Larry you saw in the true-life story, “The
Kite Runner” and also in filmmaker
Roger Nygard’s movie, “Suckers.” He
started out though doing what he loves
best and that would be stand up. He
was part of the famous San Francisco
comedy scene in the early 1980s and
quickly rose through the ranks as one
of that city’s most popular comics.
He began appearing on numerous
TV shows such as Evening at the
Improv, Make Me Laugh and others
and made his first appearance on “Late
Night with David Letterman” in 1987.
His appearance last summer was his
second in twenty-one years setting the
record for longest time in between first
and second appearances. When he first
went on Letterman Dave was on NBC
and his second time Dave had moved
to CBS. Bubbles and Zany together
June 1st through the 5th.
Best friend and a favorite, Rocky
LaPorte is here and not soon enough.
If you talk to any comic who is worth
their weight in gold they’ll say nothing
but great stuff about Rocky. In fact most
comics can’t wait until he gets a sitcom
because they want to write for him.
Major headliners are always seeking
him out just for the opportunity to share
the stage with him because they know
he is one of the best out there on the
comedy scene. Brad Garrett (who just
performed in these parts) tries to get
Rocky booked with him and even has
him fly with him to the gigs in his private
jet he likes him that much. Part of it is his
demeanor when off stage. I mean he is
hilarious on stage but off stage he’s just
as funny even when he doesn’t try to
be. Couple that with his very distinctive
delivery and you get a clue as to why
Rocky is so in demand. He’s one of
the few comics I know that actually has
to book ‘down time’ just to get some
rest that’s how slammed he is at times.
He’s been popping up in a number of
movies lately the first having appeared
in Tim Allen’s remake of Disney’s “The
Shaggy Dog.” Tim told Rock that he
was “one of my favorite comics” and
asked him to tryout for the sequel to
the very successful “Wild Hogs” which
not only starred Allen but also featured
William H. Macy and John Travolta. And
if that wasn’t enough Rocky is also in
Tim Allen’s latest movie, “Crazy On the
Outside” which Tim not only stars in but
directs and served as a co-producer.
It’s currently out on DVD and also
stars Sigourney Weaver, Ray Liotta
and Kelsey Grammer. Fortunately for
his fans Rocky loves performing ‘live’ in
front of an audience and you can see
him here with Graham Elwood (another
personal fav) June 8th through the 12th.
This marks Graham’s first time here
this year and like Rocky is a Chicago
native. Elwood honed his skills in
comedy doing clubs and colleges with
a style that is part sarcastic hipster, part
game show host and part improvisation.
He’s really adept and poking fun of
himself, which has its own kind of
delivery. Graham has one of the best
online sites, ComedyFilmNerds.com
that he created with fellow comedian
Chris Mancini. Well worth checking out.
And I have to mention that Graham
calls my radio show every Thursday
morning where his segment, “Graham’s
Crackers” is one of the highlights of
my show judging from the number of
people who turn their radio off after
listening to him first.
Howie Nave is the host/emcee/
manager of The Improv @ Harveys
every Wednesday through Sunday
and also hosts his own morning show
(“Howie’s Morning Rush”) on 93.9
KRLT radio Monday through Friday
from 6 to 10am. He’s also on Lake
Tahoe Television doing interviews with
comedians and film reviews during the
segment called, “Nave’s Raves.” He
also writes a weekly comedy column
in Action Magazine and gets the same
pay as he does here whoring himself
out for The Lake Tahoe Entertainer:
nada. Oh yeah, his DVD, “Live From
Lake Tahoe” is currently available after
his shows nightly or you can order a
copy on his website, www.Howienave.
com and make sure you check him out
on Facebook. Friend him at http://www.

What’s Goin’ On - Harrah’s & Harveys
Although it’s snowing as this
is written, June is upon us and
that means the 2011 Lake Tahoe
Summer Concert Series at Harveys
Outdoor Arena is ready to present
another exciting season of great
entertainment under the stars. The
incredible jazz pianist and vocalist
Diana Krall kicks-off the season on
Saturday, June 18. As her special
guest, Ms. Krall presents one her
favorite performers: jazz and blues
piano legend Mose Allison! This
“must see” show is the only pairing
of Krall and Allison planned this year.
Alison Krauss returns to
Harveys Outdoor Arena on July
10, this time with her band Union
Station, featuring Jerry Douglas.
Up-and-coming indie-folk band
Good Old War opens the show.
On Saturday, July 16 – right in the
middle of Celebrity Golf weekend –
the dynamic, multiple Grammy Award
winning performer Lionel Richie
brings his hit-filled, high energy show
for a star-studded evening at Lake
Tahoe.
Other
upcoming
Summer
Concert Series shows to put on your
calendar include:
Soundgarden, with The Mars
Volta – July 20
Slightly
Stoopid,
with
Rebelution and Shwayze – July 27
Lady Antebellum, with Troy
Olsen – July 29
Steve Miller Band – July 30
Phish – Aug. 9 & 10
Miranda Lambert, with Little
Big Town – Aug. 19
Sammy Hagar & The Wabos – Sept.
10
Tickets are available for these
shows via www.ticketmaster.com;
www.apeconcerts.com and through
TicketMaster outlets.
June is also a good time to
see some great entertainers in the
intimate setting of the legendary
South Shore Room at Harrah’s.
Outstanding performer (and heir to
the great tradition of saloon singers
like Sammy Davis, Jr. and Frank
Sinatra), Clint Holmes takes the
stage on June 4. A New York Time
music critic recently wrote: “Vocally,
Mr. Holmes is a solid belter who
pays close attention to lyrics. He
doesn’t simply recycle oldies with
the blasé suavity of standard lounge
singers. Rethinking them from
the beginning, he turns them into
personal dramatic monologues. In a
medley of fragments from ‘West Side
Story,’ every phrase was packed
with so much strenuous acting
that you barely noticed that they
were fragments. Leonard Cohen’s
‘Hallelujah’ had a beginning, a
middle and a soaring end in which
praise triumphs over strife.”
Tahoe favorite Elvin Bishop
brings his inimitable, down-home
blues/rock to Harrah’s on June 11.
Elvin’s been playing his unique
blend of Oklahoma, West Coast and
Chicago blues ever since first joining
the Butterfield Blues Band back in
the ‘60s. Put on your “Travelin’
Shoes” and head over to the SSR for
a show guaranteed to be “Big Fun.”
One of the best singing groups
to ever come out of Motown, The
Temptations Review featuring
Dennis Edwards showcase their
smooth choreography and long list
of hit songs on June 25. Their first
big song in the early ‘60s, “The
Way You Do The Things You Do,”
opened the gates for hit after hit by
the fledgling super group. Their next
record was “My Girl,” which reached
the top of the charts, and was soon
followed by memorable singles
including, “It’s Growing,” “Since I
John Packer
Lost My Baby,” “Get Ready,” “Ain’t
Too Proud to Beg,” “Beauty’s Only
Skin Deep,” “(I Know) I’m Losing
You,” “I Wish It Would Rain” and
“Just My Imagination (Running Away
With Me).”
Back across the street at Harveys
Cabaret, The Improv presents two
new comedians every week. In June,
laugh out loud with Bob Zany and
Larry Brown (June 1 – 5); Rocky
LaPorte and Graham Elwood (June
8 – 12); Bobby Slayton and Jim
McCue (June 15 – 19); Dennis Blair
and Dan Gabriel (June 22 – 26); and
Tommy Savitt and Erin Foley (June
29 – July 3). Funnyman Howie Nave,
who appears to be on a permanent
honeymoon, is the longtime host and
emcee of The Improv. The Improv
at Harveys is on stage Wednesdays
thru Sundays at 9 p.m., with two
shows on Saturdays at 8 and 10 p.m.

Fly Fishing
We might see summer this month
but I am not counting on it until I
actually see it! Once again the month
of May was a bit on the crazy side as
far as weather goes and the fishing
followed suite.
Some days were
great and the fish wouldn't stay off
of the fly but other days proved to be
tough. June should be a better month
although the run-off will be in full
swing. Lucky for us we have Tailwater
fisheries such as the East Walker
River and the Little Truckee River.
Both of these fisheries have controlled
flows and are not as affected by runoff. The other options this time of year
are Stillwater fisheries and hopefully
we will see a few of them thaw in the
early part of the month.
Spooner Lake is iced out and has
been fishing really well with numerous
species of fish that take the fly. The
Tiger Trout is the largest and is a cross
between the Brown Trout and the
Brooke Trout. If you haven't caught
a Tiger Trout, now is the time to give
it a try. This fishery won't stay at a
high quality for long due to the weeds
that build up once the temperatures
rise in the lake. Shore fishing is
actually pretty good but fishing from a
float-tube is best! Fishing with Leech
patterns, Blood Midges, Calibaetis
and Damsels will do best both on the
surface and subsurface. It seems that
the Eastern shore fishes a bit better
than the Western shore so try fishing
from the dam area over towards the
Carson City side of the lake. Full
sinking lines in a number 2 or 3
sink rate or one of the clear sinking
lines will be best for the Streamers
and Nymphs. Indicator Nymphing is
another good method to try with the
Blood Midge and a Calibaetis Nymph
underneath it. Not all of the fish are
big but the numbers can make up for
it. (We have guide service available
on Spooner).
We are still in a wait and see
mode as far as the Hwy 88 lakes are
concerned. Red Lake, Caples and
Silver Lake will fish great right around
the time of Ice-Out but it is hard to tell
when that might be this year. Some
anglers were still fishing through the
ice as late as the end of the month of
May. Be ready when it finally goes, it
will be worth the wait!
Indian
Creek
was
fishing
wonderfully until it flipped and became
off-colored. I am sure the fishing will
get going again soon and there are
quite a few of those toads they put
in there that have not been removed
as of yet that make for a bunch of
fun! The Damsels and the Calibaetis
should be filling in for the month of
June.
As far as the rivers go, The East
Walker has been holding its' own
fishing well in the upper sections with
tiny flies. As long as the flows stay
below the 600 or so CFS level, the
fishing will continue to stay good. The
only problem with big flows is trying
to land the fish. They still have to
eat which makes them hook able but
with the small flies we use they tend
to come unbuttoned when they get in
the current. Baetis, Midges and Micro
Caddis are still working well.
The Little Truckee River is similar
but with higher flows as of the end of
May. The fish still eat but it is tougher
to get to them and when you do they
Victor Babbit
are once again tough to land. I like
that kind of fishing personally, it is
definitely more of a challenge! Look
for the Green Drakes to be a bit late
this year, maybe towards the end of
June.
I know this report sounds a bit
iffy but the reality is there are places
to fish that are actually fishing really
well just not as easy as some would
like it. Get out with one of our guides
that fish it everyday and they should
be able to get you a wonderful day
on the water. For further information
on these fisheries or any others, stop
by the shop or give us a ring and we
will gladly point you in an appropriate
direction for some fun fishing!
We are located at 2705 Lake
Tahoe Blvd. about 3 miles from the
Casinos into California.

The New Mastersounds - July 9 - Mt. Tallac Brewery
The New Mastersounds are a
four-piece band based in Leeds,
England, whose modern take on
vintage soul-jazz, funk and rock
draws influences from Jimmies
McGriff, Smith, and Hendrix, as well
as their most closely-associated
mentors, The Meters. Try to imagine
Grant Green and Lou Donaldson
having a fight in a Hammond Organ
shop while James Brown holds the
coats, and you have some idea of
what to expect from this band. Their
first single, One Note Brown, was
released on Blow It Hard Records
in 2000 and was passionately
championed by acclaimed Northern
Soul and funk DJ Keb Darge.
To date, the band has released
four studio records: 102%, This
Is What We Do, Be Yourself, Keb
Darge Presents… as well as The
New Mastersounds Re::Mixed, and
Live At La Cova. Also of note: their
single, “Your Love Is Mine” featuring
Corinne Bailey Rae, was used in the
2007 Warner Brothers movie Feast
of Love.
Having
toured
throughout
Europe, Japan and the USA, the
NMS have earned global recognition
as a key band in the ‘New Funk’
scene. But purists beware: their
unique blend of funk, rock, soul and
dance music is hard to sum up and
doesn’t fit neatly into any one genre.
Headed soon to a city near
you, The New Mastersounds deliver
gritty grooves and deep rhythms in
clubs, theater venues and festivals
alike. Their live shows will get you
up dancing and hold you there
intoxicated by the funk until last
call- when you’ll stagger home,
sweaty and exhausted, on a wave
of euphoria.
Led by guitarist and producer
Eddie
Roberts,
The
New
Mastersounds feature Joe Tatton on
Hammond, Pete Shand on bass and
Simon Allen on drums.
The New Mastersounds are
playing at Mt. Tallac Brewery,
Saturday July 9th. Special Guests
are Groove Session and Adient Zoo.
This is an all ages concert and
tickets are $15 presale and $20 day
of show.
Mt. Tallac Brewery is located
at 2060 Eloise Ave. in South Lake
Tahoe. More information can be
found at PetProjektPresents.com.
Entertainment & Events
June is my favorite months to write
for The Lake Tahoe Entertainer. I get
to announce the summer shows we’re
producing and events we’re working
on to make the summer sizzle in the
Tahoe basin. This Summer 2011 is
going to be one of the best seasons in
my 23 year tenure.
Let’s start out talking about one
of the biggest hip-hop tours of the
summer making a stop in Lake Tahoe.
Wiz Khalifa, who graced the cover of
Rolling Stones magazine last month,
is selling out 4000+ capacity arenas
across the country. MontBleu Resort
will host Wiz, along with Chevy Woods
and DJ Bonics on June 21 inside the
MontBleu Theatre. This Tahoe show
happens to be the most intimate venue
on Wiz’s entire tour, selling out in
just 3 days. If you didn’t get tickets
and still want to part of the action,
Blu Nightclub and PR Entertainment
are hosting the “Official Wiz Khalifa
After-Party” which will feature Wiz’s
own Chevy Woods and DJ Bonics.
Come party with Wiz and the Taylor
Gang after the show inside Blu. Tickets
are limited, and this event will sell-out.
$10 advance, $15 at door.
Electronic music certainly has
made its way into the mainstream.
With DJ’s like David Guetta making
the charts with his remixes, and Paul
Oakenfold on tour with Madonna, and
remixing hits for Britney Spears, to
DubStep beats on Top 40 radio hits, it’s
no wonder the electronic world is more
popular than ever. We here at PRE
continue to try to create an Electronic
Music scene here in Lake Tahoe with
shows this year like Matt Darey, Jeff
Taisch and the Opulent Temple DJ’s,
and the legendary Paul Oakenfold.
PRE has presented such greats in
Tahoe as Tiesto and Kaskade, and
on June 24, we teaming up with Syd
Gris and the Opulent Temple folks from
Burning Man to present The Crystal
Method along with Opulent DJ Dex
Stakker, along with a team of other
DJ’s like Billy Wonka, Erik Lobe, DJ
Kos, Spence Lee, and DJ Rundown.
Costumes and Burning Man flavor will
be in full-force on June 24, as we raise
money for the Opulent Temple Sound
Camp. Advanced tickets start at just
$20. Call MontBleu to reserve yours
now.
Another amazing electronic show
is slated for the MontBleu Theatre
on Sunday, July 10, with DubWarz.
This live on-stage battle of some of
the hottest DubStep DJ’s in the county
masterminded by Billy Wonka, and
starring the legendary DJ Kioki, and
Liquid Stranger. This could very well
be the hottest parties of the summer!
Advanced tickets are recommended.
All ages show.
The Award-Winning,
familyfriendly production show, “Masters
Of Magic” returns to Lake Tahoe for
the entire Summer season. Beginning
June 30, and running through Labor
Day Weekend, Sept 4, “Masters of
Magic” will feature Magician of the
Year, Tony Clark, Stage Magician of
the Year, Danny Cole, and the lovely
Stacy Cole, Christopher Hart from
The Addams Family movies (“Hand”),
as well as Farrell Dillion from TV’s
Masters of Illusion. “Masters Of Magic”
will run nightly Wednesday-Sunday, at
8p, with two shows on Saturday 7pm &
9pm. This is an all-ages show perfect
for the entire family. $19.95 for adults,
$14.95 for children 17 and under.
July 4th weekend will creep up
on us before you know it, so make
your plans now to see one of the
funniest comedians on television, Jo
Koy on Saturday, July 2. He can be
seen weekly as a regular guest on
E!’s “Chelsea Lately” and is poised
for even more success with his role in
the upcoming NBC comedy pilot “Are
You There Vodka? Its Me, Chelsea”,
based on the autobiographical book of
the same name by Chelsea Handler.
Speaking of Chelsea, the Comedians
of Chelsea Lately Tour is making
a stop here in Lake Tahoe. Loni
Love, Josh Wolf, Sarah Colonna,
and Fortune Feimster will take over
the MontBleu Theatre on Saturday,
August 13. Get your tickets early for
both Jo Koy on July 2nd, and the
Comedians of Chelsea Lately on
August 13.
Other great shows confirmed this
summer so far include Todd Rundgren,
the comedy of Nick Cannon, Sky
Blu of LMFAO, Lisa Lampanelli,
The Ghost Whisperer James Van
Praagh, Singer/Songwriter Brandi
Carlile, Aaron Lewis of Staind,

What's New, What's Now & What's Next
They say some of the best things
in life are free. I say that they made an
accounting error last month. Fortunately
for you, our friends in the finance
department told me I have a credit in my
promotional account. What does this
mean you? Free Wiz Khalifa tickets!
That’s right, I always told people that I
was a nice guy… All you have to do is
convince us you are the best suited for
the tickets by posting your best “black
and yellow” video on our facebook wall
(facebook.com/montbleuresort). We’ll
give away three pairs of tickets to the
top three videos chosen by myself and
a celebrity panel. Have fun making fun
of yourself online Tahoe.
While we’re on the subject of free
or practically free. Whatever happened
to the early bird special? I feel as if my
grandparents are quite accustomed
to this in their friendly community in
Naples Florida. Where is the early bird
special in Lake Tahoe? This summer
it’s at MontBleu. Say hello to 99 cent
tacos and 99 cent margaritas every
day from 1pm – 6pm at Café Del Soul.
Whether you’re just getting off work or
would like a late lunch, come in for the
party. Plus, with our Happy Hour 24/7
specials the party is
always on at MontBleu.
Come in, let loose and
enjoy yourself.
One of the great
things about living
in Lake Tahoe is the
action, be it gaming,
entertainment
or
nightlife.
Outdoor
adventure is great, but
no one likes it when
the sidewalks roll up at
7pm. Here at MontBleu
we offer an enjoyable
evening out, whatever
your tastes. I like to
start off in Ciera Steak & Chophouse,
Tahoe’s only Four Diamond restaurant.
Imagine private red cush velvet booths,
ambiance for days, over 400 wines
and 24oz prime cut steaks. Utter-bliss
is usually followed by an after dinner
drink at HQ Center Bar. Located off
the casino floor, HQ, grabs you with the
warmth of the indoor fire pit and keeps
you with Happy Hour 24/7 specials all
night long. Andy, Clay, Paco, Oscar
and Ken always treat you like family. At
10pm the night begins with Opal Ultra
Lounge. Tahoe’s only ultra lounge,
Opal features some of the best parties
on the south shore. My suggestion,
grab a bottle. With bottles starting at
just over $100 a pop, you can live it up
without having to take out a second
mortgage. If you’re interested in a
bottle call Tahoe Ted, 540.272.1767,
he always takes care you (You’re
Welcome). Street cred.
Alright lets talk entertainment.
Wiz Khalifa and The Crystal Method
(Opulent Temple DJ’s) play the
MontBleu showroom in June. Up next
By Mike Donovan
in July is Jo Koy, Todd Rundgren,
Nick Cannon, Sky Blue of LMFAO,
Lisa Lampanelli and The Ghost
Whisperer “James Van Praagh”. In
August look forward to Brandi Carlile,
Aaron Lewis, KC & The Sunshine
Band and The Comedians of Chelsea
Lately. Shows are being added daily
so make sure to check us out online at
montbleuresort.com.
Call the resort for reservations 24/7
at 1-800-BE-LUCKY or 888-829-7630.
Good luck!
