Race in the Central part of Russia
The Volga river is the great transport artery. The first historical
mention of the Volga refers to the V century BC. Throughout its
history it has had an important unifying factor — the largest water
and transport artery for delivery of goods from the south to the
north, and the largest river system in Europe.

The route of the race:
Total distance — 600 km.
The route runs along the Volga
significant places associated with
historic transportation routes of
delivery of goods, goods from the East
to the North along the Volga.
Dog breeds participants:
Northern sled dog breeds, half-breeds.

Sled dogs of 8-12
Prize money:
1 000 000 (one million) rubles divide
into prizes.

dynamically developing and gaining popularity
around the world, including Russia. We invite
you to support mushing at the beginning of
revival, underlining the importance of family
formation and cultural property of the country
and all the world. Courage, patience, love of
animals and unity with the beauty and power
of nature, understanding the culture and way
of life of our ancestors combine here. There
are forgotten qualities and knowledge, but
we need them for the education of future
generations.
«Volga Quest» — is an investment in the
establishment and development of the tourism
in the Volga region and the beginning of a new
ecological culture. As evidence of the merits of
the project, we have received broad support by
the Federal Agency of Tourism (the Ministry of
Culture of the Russian Federation), by the
project «The Great Volga», Russian federation
of Sled Dog sports, the Department of
Tourism in Samara Region, the Ministry of
Sport in Samara Region, the City of Togliatti,
Ulyanovsk, Kazan.
The first stage of «Volga Quest sled dog expedition on
Samarskaya Luka» was held in January-February 2013.
In May 2013 there was the exhibition «Russian Open
Event Expo» in Moscow. And received Laureate Diploma
(Third degree) from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian
Federation in the nomination of Ecotourism of 340 projects
submitted from all over Russia.
The race will be held in three regions of Russia with a population of more than
4 000 000 people
«Volga Quest 2014» — is the International Sled Dog Race in the Central part of Russia with a unique route of
600 kilometers on Samarskaja Luka and significant places of the Volga region, renowned for its scenic beauty.
Also the «Volga Quest 2014» is held on the eve of the Olympic Games in Sochi. This fact ensures high attention
to the sports event of this level from the state, the media, sports and tourist community, cultural, sporting and
business communities of Russia and abroad. Because of famous participants and organizers from all over the
world «Volga Quest 2014» officially received the support of the French «La Grande Odyssée MontBlanc» and
legendary «Iditarod» (Alaska, USA).

Participants of the race
will pass through small
villages. It will revitalize
their lives, and will provide
participants race to the
cultural heritage of the
Volga region.

The Race Marshal
Hereditary musher, the world-famous dog sled
racer and the main judge of the competition. He
is the first Russian athlete, who participated in
the one of the most prestigious extreme race
-«Iditarod» (USA, Alaska). «Iditarod» repeats the
path that passed the sled dogs in the 20-ies of
the last century, when they saved dying children of Nome from diphtheria. It was a difficult
track, and many dogs died in the way, but dying
children were rescued. They delivered serum in
severe frosts, when aircrafts could not fly, and
railways were closed.
In Chukotka Nicholay Ettyne worked as a guide
with all famous travelers: Gilles Elko, Mike Horn,
George Karpenko and Arthur Chubarkin. He
participated in the : «Hope-Nadezhda» (1900 km,
Russia, Chukotka) , «Iditarod» (1600 km, USA,
Alaska) , «Yukon Quest» (1200 km, USA —
Canada) «Arctic Barents Rасe» (Norway, Sweden,
Finland, Russia, 2800 km) and etc.

He was born in Sandvika
in July 11, 1960.
He graduated from the Norwegian veterinary school in
1994. Has attended sleddograces as a veterinarian
since 1997, including the
role as headvet of Finnmarksløpet 2004, Femundsløpet several years, European
Championchip middistance
2005, Arctic Barents Race
2009, World Championship 2011 middistance and
Amundsen race 2013.

Expeditionary force «Silver of North» has recognized in
Russia in the field of organization adventure projects
with sled dogs.
The expedition in the North Karelia «Arctic Circle
experience 66.33.39 — on dogs and snowmobiles to
the Arctic Circle», organized by the Force, received first
prize in nomination «Ecotourism» from the magazine
«Transaero» in the field of adventure projects in 2011.
«Travelling-consequence sled dog race Ace Karjala»,
travelling to the highest point in North Karelia —
Mount Nuorunen, was awarded a Diploma for first
place in the field of ecotourism in innovation exhibition of new Russian projects in Moscow.
In 2013, the Expeditionary Force «Silver of North» took
part in the development and organization of the project «Volga Quest».
