25 Years of Schlagwerk Percussion
The idea of perfecting traditional instruments through innovation and precise, handcrafted
production is the central theme of the company history of Schlagwerk Percussion.
We take advantage of the experience which we have accumulated over the last 25 years
when developing our new products.
It is with great pride that we present the 2inOne deluxe and dual Cajones as well as the
new Bass Cajones for the first time in our main programme 07/08. We especially wish to point
out our Booster Set, the first percussive drumset “made in Germany”.
This is exactly what is reflected in our catalogue: our vast experience has led to the
manufacture of mature instruments as well as polished and convincing new developments.
We think this is very exciting!

Schlagwerk Cajon la Perù® with a Beechwood

Affectionately referred to as “el negro” in the Flamenco
scene, the most successful Schlagwerk Cajon has not
lost any of its aesthetics or its versatility within varying
music styles. CP 4007 – the classic Cajon!
The perfect combination of Gabon resonance box and
Zebrano playing surface makes the balanced proportion between warm bass tones and fine, but concrete

Bongo Add-on for Cajon
xtra
With its bongo-like sounds, this Add-on Set is a great addition
to the Cajon la Perù® and can be easily attached to the left
or right of the Cajon with Velcro-strips. Attaching an Add-on
Set (i. e. double set) to the left and right, respectively, gives
you the popular three-head playing version made popular
by Alex Acuna.

Cult-Guarantee: This black beauty has it all – the lovely Macassar
surface produces a surprisingly strong bass, and its special resonance box made of SPL (= sonic projection ligneum) represents
a new dimension in Cajon construction. But that‘s not all:
the extremely rich snare sound generated by the 84 spirals
definitively ensures its pole-position in the 2inOne-Series.

on one playing surface. On the second playing surface,
you can make magic with percussive, conga-like sounds.
The removable 2inOne snare technique makes numerous
variations of traditional Cuban rhythms possible.
INFO .Microphone Placement
[ NEW ]
xtra
The models of the Cajon la Perù®, respectively
the 2inOne deluxe, series have a wooden slat for
placing a microphone (Pictured: triangular slat
on the back wall of the Cajon, inside view).
We recommend using a condensor microphone
with a Cajon (e. g. beyerdynamic Opus 87). For the
Cajones on the following pages, we recommend
using a clip-microphone (e. g. Opus 82). These can
be easily positioned around the resonance hole.
INFO 2inOne-Technique
with 84 spirals
The picture on the right shows us
the new Snare cross-bar with a
total of 84 spirals. The spirals are
extremely sensitive and the player
is rewarded with a rich snare sound
even at a minimal volume. The
84 spirals are used in the models
2inOne deluxe CP 430 and CP 432,
as well as in the new Bass Cajon
2inOne.

with an unexpectedly light and pleasant snare effect. Because of its

The ultimate Cajon for smaller musicians. Its highlight: the
Hip-Box® is not just for playing while seated. If set on its
back side, several “drummers” can play the Cajon at the
same time. But be careful: this is not a child’s toy – the rich
bass und succinct snare effect will fill every professional
percussionist with enthusiasm.
2inOne-Snare Cajon medium – its name stands for
a completely new concept in Cajon construction.
The 2inOne-Snare-Technique has been successfully
used since 2005 and is extremely popular. Due to
its height of 45 cm, the Medium-Model is the most
comfortable choice for many musicians without
having to make a compromise in sound.
The newcomer 2005: Because of its variable snare cross-bar,
this simple “box” can be changed into an all-purpose Snare
Cajon with one simple hand movement. A distinctive, crisp
sound, a refreshing design, and “made in Germany” are the
factors that have contributed to the success of this Cajon.

Booster Boxx – The name is standard for musicians. This Bass-Cajon, which
was designed for use with a pedal and BP 40, makes an amazing bass drum
sound on stage. The integrated snare cross-bar helps to create a totally
realistic sound (distinctive vibrating snare wires). The frequency range lies
just above that of “normal” bass drums, thus offering an absolute impressive,
interesting and assertive alternative.

Height: with Stand approx. 73 cm
The playing surface, which is 2/3 rough, has proved
ideal for playing with rods and brushes as well as with
the typical hand-playing technique. Thanks to its 2inOneTechnique, a wide spectrum of sound can be achieved,
ranging from originally Cuban sounds to banging
rimshots when used as a snare.
The Cajinto Solo makes a shining impression by combining
the Cajon sound with the succinct pitches of a Quinto. The
partially screwed playing surface makes it possible to produce
razor-sharp slaps by using the typical conga playing technique. By loosening the screws, these slaps can be intensified
with a typical Cajon wood-smacking effect! The advantages
of the 2inOne-Snare technique can be used as well.
Its construction is very similar to that of its “little sisters” –
the only visible difference is the much deeper resonance box
which provides for a convincing and rich bass. Thanks to the
2inOne cross-bar, the player of this drum might easily take for
granted the magnificent snare sound at his/her disposal.
The Bass-Cajinto is also delivered with an ingeniously simple,
yet solid wooden stand.

There will always be percussionists who aren‘t thrilled with a traditional drumset,
just as there will always be drummers whose reaction is restrained when it comes
to percussion. This is a good thing. The Booster Set finds the perfect solution –
for percussionists and drummers. The symbiosis of drum set and Cajon with all the
advantages of sound and playability. The combination of Booster Boxx and Cajinto
makes no compromises for people who are looking for an impressive
Drum&Bass-Kit, who need a compact drum set for their gigs and/or want
to integrate the ultimate groove machine into their percussion setup.

The queen of Yambú-Drums is indisputably the Peruano.
The playing surface with Burl veneer produces crisp snare
sounds and extremely full bass sounds which can easily
breathe through the new floor stand. By using a conga playing
technique, very clear slaps can be produced as well. It can be
used as the perfect Cajon substitute for any percussion setup.

The Travel Solo isn‘t only distinctive because
of the interesting Black Eyes design on its

and/or a Conga set and thus has earned the title
of a “solo instrument”.

RT DEF Def
Goat skin, 5 jingle pairs, 1 single jingle, Ø 25 cm /approx.10“
Goat skin, 14 jingle pairs, Ø 30 cm / approx. 12“
The Schlagwerk Riqq, based on the Arabian riqq, is a
tunable frame drum that provides a great variety of sound
and glissando possibilities due to its special jingle combination.
The two gaps in the frame guarantee a firm grip and optimal
handling of the riqq. Materials: The frame is made of 6-ply
glued Beechwood, frame height 62 mm, goat skin, Ø 25 cm
with 10 (!) tuning screws integrated into the frame.
A tuning key is included.
The components of this tamburello may give you
an idea of its full sound impact: 6-ply glued Beechwood frame with a height of 70mm and 8 integrated
tuning screws, high-quality goat skin and a total of
14 jingle pairs (7 double sets). The grip hole in the
frame guarantees comfortable handling.
Of course, a tuning key is included.
Goat skin, extra light-weight frame drum,
Ø 40 cm / approx. 16“
Schlagwerk has expanded its range of frame drums with
the addition of the new Def. The construction of the frame
(6-ply glued Beechwood, 70 mm in height) reduces the
weight noticeably. Not only does this make for better
handling, but also for a much more pronounced sustain.

RT BEN Bendir
RT FHD Freehand Drum
Goat skin, with snare strings, Ø 40 cm/ approx. 16“
Double-layered goat skin, Ø 40 cm/ approx. 16“
The Bendir is an especially popular frame drum
used in oriental music. The construction of the frame
is similar to the Def, but a grip hole in the cross
support and snare strings attached to the skin inside
the drum make all the difference. The typical Bendirlike snare effect is produced by the four strings.
The double skin technique is a rarely used option
in the construction of natural skin frame drums.
The result is quite interesting: the double-layered
skin produces very controlled and distinctive tones,
inviting the player to experiment with differentiating tensions. The Freehand Drum can be played
with the drum clamped between the legs.

CircleDrums & more
The Circle Drum is a great sounding, easy to play frame drum
with a natural skin head. Because of the light-weight construction:
Ø 50 cm = 700 g, Ø 45 cm = 600 g, Ø 40 cm = 500 g, Ø 35 cm = 300 g
it‘s especially good for use in Drum Circles or playing for a long time with one hand!
The multi-ply Beechwood frame is covered with a tensioned, sturdy goat skin.
The crossed belts help maintain light and sure handling.

Gomé, 48 x 48 x 37 cm
The Gomé-Bass is, without exaggeration,
one of the most unusual and original
West African musical instruments.
The Schlagwerk Gomé is modelled on
the Ghanaian bass drum, which provides
the rhythmic basis for almost all music
styles of the fishermen of the Ga tribe.
This tunable drum can be played with
hands or soft mallets while sitting on it
with the skin facing front. The pitch can
be modified, respectively tuned higher,
to create djembé-like sounds.
RTF 60 Frame Drum with feet
Ø 60 cm/24‘‘, 7-ply glued Beechwood frame,
goat skin, removable feet, 1 pair MA 107
The new RTF 60 is an interesting and low-priced alternative
to the large Table Drum. It is especially well-suited for use in
therapeutic treatment programmes, early musical education,
in kindergartens and nursery schools, as well as for music
lessons at the primary school level.

incl. an easily

stand for 3
playing heights
TT 80 Table Drum
Ø 80 cm, cowhide, tunable, on a sturdy three-footed stand,
1 pair MA 107
A carefully chosen cowhide ensures a warm, energetic
sound. The Table Drum is used successfully in all areas
of therapeutic treatment programmes (music therapy,
psychomotor, speech therapy) and in rhythmic and musical
education. The Table Drum has an unusually high stimulative nature and can be played at three different heights
while either sitting or standing. It is especially suited for
group activities.

Udu means “clay pot” in the language of the Ibos. Originally from Africa,
the Udu can also be found in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Having made the leap into western music culture, Schlagwerk Udus belong to the
basics of every percussionist as sound-effect and rhythm instruments. They are played by rhythmically
opening and closing the side-hole with the palm of the hand. This produces
a deep bass tone, reminiscent of the sound of the Indian Tabla.

This Udu is formed after the traditional
construction methods of the east Nigerian
Ibo tribe, and is very much a bass tonal

The Skin Udu® is the highlight of our Udu® range
and offers a variety of features. Apart from the side
sound hole, which yields soft, round harmonious
bass tones, this Udu® has a thin, natural skin.
Depending on the playing technique, this high
pitched, pre-tuned membrane is capable of producing a kaleidoscope of sounds ranging from deep
resonant basses to powerful Darabuka-related,
high tonal sounds. The varying surface strengths of
this Udu mean that it is capable of two body-sounds,
which can be produced by playing with the fingers
and technique and yield a stony-percussive sound
type. The combination of oriental drum sounds and
soft low pitched bass tones create a unique and
inspiring sound experience.

The Big Bom® is the noble giant among the log drums, and not
just because of its size. Its voluminous sound and high quality
manufacture are very convincing. It also exudes intense warmth
with its “hand-friendly” wooden body. The pentatonic tone gives
this instrument a harmonious multi-tonal spectrum, ranging from
deep, rich basses to bright altos. The Big Bom® is the ideal instrument for communication: big enough to allow two players to sit
side by side, they can enter into a creative musical dialogue.
The Big Bom® is a highly sought-after and valuable instrument in
the field of therapeutics, e.g. as a producer of heart beat tones
which can be felt in their entirety (basal stimulation), or as the key
to dialogue awareness and communication advancement
(psychomotor dialogue).

Wind Chimes can set body and senses in motion while having
a positive influence on our well-being. Our Wind Chimes come
in three different prevailing moods. Based on a tonic keynote,
they are tuned in pentatonic sequences which give each one its
own individual sound character. Most of the moods are based
on planetary tones and have been set in audible frequencies by
transposing an octave above or below. The oscillatory nature
in the higher tonal ranges and the harmonious tonal images are
the distinguishing features of these wind chimes. Each one of
the wind chimes has been tuned to a pure interval with highprecision measuring instruments.

8 Tones, 60 x 20 x 40 cm
The Marimbula is the original Caribean Bass. The eight metal
tongues are fastened in such a manner that they can be individually

F-major pentatonic scale. It can be played by hand or with mallets.
Using mallets yields clear, fresh high tones.

Dimensions: 56 x 53 x 9 cm
These new Table Tubes TRS 210 offer a great variety of sounds. The position
of the hanging tubes within the vibration-friendly frame is freely adjustable.
This allows tones with a short sustain, but can also produce an almost endless
swinging magical sound. Two additional tubes (in “e”) expand the possibility
of creative playing to the C-Penta scale.
BA 610 F Balaphone
Padouk sound bars, F-major Penta c‘ to d‘‘‘, 65 x 51.5 x 20 cm
“Balaphone” means “talking wood” in the language of the Mandingos.
The Schlagwerk Balaphone combines the rich, colourful sounds of native
West African instruments with European production standards and
standardised tuning. 12 sound bars made of Padouk wood are fastened to
the resonance body by rubber bands, making it impossible for any of the
bars to drop out, even under pressure from the most heavy-handed player.
