The evening began with an informative presentation about the history of Worton Hall Studios hosted by Ed Harris, author of “Britain’s Forgotten Film Factory”. Ed then presented some selected scenes from “The Unwanted”, an epic tale of love and war, and very amusingly and expertly described the Beginners Adult Ballet Classes Tuesdays 8-9pm here at the WERFA Pavilion. The Royal Oak ~ 128 Worton Road, Isleworth TW7 6EP T: 020 8560 2906 E: theroyaloakisleworth@btconnect.com FB: theroyaloakIsleworth W: royaloakisleworth.co.uk An Abbatastic evening! All in the Pavilion were in holiday mood at the very end of summer as a full house joined in the perennial favourite Abba songs during the screening of hit musical ‘Mamma Mia! ‘. From the start – a solo performance of ‘Thank you for the music’ from Katie Langley of the London Youth Choir – to the finale with its line-up of our own singing and dancing queens (and kings) the evening of 19 September was terrific fun with added 70s style. Enthusiastic singing from audience alternated with quieter moments absorbed in the film’s story about young and not-so young romantic antics, performed by a surprising set of A-list actors in beautiful Greek locations and with a joyful upbeat ending. The interval carried on the Greek theme with delicious moussaka and salad made by Kate Mcsherry followed by Joyce Diment’s Greek apple pie. Costume Competition winners: Dave and Marion Huffer in colourful holiday mode with Dave sporting a Greek slogan on his T shirt. Runner up was David Laskey as goatherd (accompanied by bell).
