VSO Consulting - brief introduction
VSO Consulting, originally founded in 1958, is today owned by its management team and several of it’s
other employees. Currently VSO with its ~ 70 employees has annual turnover close to 800 million ISK.
VSO Consulting is certified according to ISO 9001 quality system.

editorial building for the newspaper Morgunblaðið.

Höfðatorg:
~ 90.000 sqm office,- service and apartment
complex in the the center of Reykjavik.
Engineering design. Phase 1; 12.000 sqm office
building, currently under construction.
2004 - Stekkjarbrekkur:
Project management and supervising of a new
40.000 sqm shopping mall in Reykjavik.

Smáratorg:
New 21.000 sqm (77,6 m high) office- and
shopping center in Kópavogur and 10.000 sqm car

Four star, 270 rooms’ hotel near Reykjavik’s center.

Hotel Borg:
Extensive restoration of the original 1930 Hotel
Borg (56 rooms) in the center of Reykjavik. The
hotel was equipped with the latest modern
comforts, but kept its 1930’s grace.

One full size soccer field (8.200 sqm.), one halfsize soccerfield (4.100 sqm.) and two minor fields
(1.200 sqm each) all with artificial turf, snow
melting system and floodlighted.

environmental impact assessment.

Pre- and final design of 2.0 km double road,
including bridges, underpass, pedestrian brigde,
pedestrian trails, traffic noise calculation, sound
barriers design etc.

Arnarnesvegur:
Pre design of 4.3 km road, including multilevel
intersections, two underpasses, roundabout and
other crossings as well as environmental impact
assessment.
Final design of 1.3 km section including two

Route planning and modeling of different network
option of the bus network in the capitol area.

Traffic modeling and forecasting:
Design of a new traffic model for the greater
Reykjavik area. The model has been used in
various projects including a study of different
planning options in the new Reykjavik master plan.
2008
Traffic simulation:
Comparison of leveled intersection vs. signalized
intersection. Micro-simulation used to analyze
travel time, distance travelled and delays.

municipality. Estimated number of inhabitants

Kárahnjúkar Hydro Power Plant
Kárahnjúkar Hydroelectric Project. 690 MW power
station in east of Iceland.
Supervision in the power house area. The
powerhouse is built in the mountain. Three tunnels
and tow caves.

Geothermal power plant in Hellisheiði. 120 MW
power plant.

Leifur Eiriksson Air Terminal, Keflavik Iceland:
New 14.000 sqm new extension and renewing of
10.000 sqm of the North building of the air terminal
Leifur Eiriksson. This includes departure lounge,
check in, passenger security check, baggage
handling area, piers, baggage reclaim, arrival
concourse and more.
