Host Partner Quotes
“The one-day Latino/a Multi-Disciplinary Workshop provided by Creative Capital and hosted by Taller
Puertorriqueño was a great experience for Philadelphia’s local artists. The workshop leaders created
a safe environment where the group could share their personal challenges and strengths, as
artist. During the workshop we were introduced to strategic planning, fundraising, and promotion,
which, are significant tools for the development as artists and entrepreneurs. Also, we explored the
world of improvisation, which helped the participants with listening and communications skills. “The
elevator” game was a reminder of the importance of knowing how to execute your mission
statement in one minute. The artists were challenged to think about the past and present; but most
importantly, the future. We were given the Creative Capital “bibles” that provided a guideline for a
plan of action. Personally, I could not wait to write my 5year plan. At the end of the workshop most
of the artist walked away with more confidence and excitement. Everyone expressed their gratitude
for the tools they learned and for the wonderful workshop instructors. On behalf of Taller
Puertorriqueño, I would like to thank Creative Capital, Ela Troyano and Cesar Cornejo for leading
such a powerful and enlightening workshop.” – Gabriela Sanchez, Cultural Enrichment and Facilities
Manager, Taller Puertorriqueño, workshop host, 2014
“One participant mentioned that her thoughts and ideas come to he in Spanish and don't often
evolve into their full potential in English, She said that this workshop will definitely help her
thoroughly evaluate her ideas so that she may strategically approach the market with competitive
projects.” –Alma Guzman, Arts Associate, The Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, workshop
host, 2014
“It was a really wonderful workshop! Ela was a hit! It makes a real difference to hear the advice
coming from an artist.” – Silvia Juliana Mantilla Ortiz, Queens Museum, workshop host, 2014
