104 D Tennessee Street Murphy, NC 28906 Bless My Stitches Quilt Shop Monday - Saturday 10 - 5 Take-a-long Lunch Bag 828-835-4900 Supplies: 1/2 yd fabric for outer bag 2/3 yd fabric for lining, handles & loop closure 1/2 yd Insul Bright® insulating material 2 yard belting 1" button Frixion Marker Basic sewing supplies Cut two 11"x18" rectangles from outer fabric. Cut two 11"x12" rectangles from Insul Bright® Cut two 36” pieces of belting Wrong sides together, matching 3 raw edges, pin a rectangle of Insul Bright® to a rectangle of outer fabric. Cut two 11"x18" rectangles, Cut two 4"x36" rectangles, Cut one 1 3/4"x22" rectangle from coordinating fabric. Cut a 2 1/2" square from each corner along bottom edge. Repeat for other outer fabric rectangle. Baste layers together along side edges & across bottom edge. Page 1 Bless My Stitches Quilt Shop Take-a-long Lunch Bag Making the Straps & Ties (1) Iron strap wrong sides together. (2-5) Fold one side to the center place strap webbing then fold the other side towards it. Fold again continuing to iron between each step. Pin and stitch 1/8 each side. (6) Sew down the middle of your strap to make a nice finish. (7-9) Repeat this process with out the webbing for ties. Page 2 Bless My Stitches Quilt Shop Take-a-long Lunch Bag Measure 3” in on the right side edge and left side edge of fabric to place handle. Measure one inch down from Insul Bright®, mark between the straps to find center, this is for button placement. Making sure the handle lies like this, being carful not to twist. Measure down 2” for the placement of the tie. Sew strap on to each front. Matching the 1/8” stitches except the center. Sew up to Insul Bright® then turn and go down other side of strap. Repeat for other bag front. Sew on tie, as shown. Double stitch for strength. Page 3 Bless My Stitches Quilt Shop Take-a-long Lunch Bag Sew bag pieces together (1/2” seams) and lining pieces together leaving a hole on the side towards the bottom of lining for turning. The bag should look something like this, the front is inside out. Now turn right side out. Keep lining inside out. Press seams open.! Stitch corners 1/2' seams be careful on the bag front there are LOTS of layers! Sew slowly going over all the layers! Place (turned right side out with the bag inside lining. Match seams pin very well stitch around top 1/2 '. Slip lining inside the bag and make sure that the top edge is lined up. Press. Turn out through lining hole.
