Institution Identification Manual • About the school seal • Logo/school name information and usage rules• Official College Templates • Poster, Widgets and Tarpaulin approval procedures • Revised, February 2009 The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde seal has two unique features: • An open book in the middle of the seal is enclosed in a circle that forms the body of a five-pointed star. The book represents an open mind to learning, a symbol of the multidimensionality of human intelligence and the centerpiece of the College’s learning philosophy. • The star is a variation on the Signum Fidei. It is the sign of faith and the symbol of the La Salle Brothers (Fraternum Scholarum Christianarum). The star also means hope. The five points, bisected into green and white areas, represent benevolence, civility, humanitarianism, service-oriented goals, and scientific pursuit. Connecting each star’s points are solid and white circular lines that alternate from point to point, forming a circular pattern around the star. Each school, campus, office, and program within DLS-CSB must be primarily identified as De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, and secondarily. as an entity within the college. A logo/seal is a visual representation of the institution. Being used to identify the school, the DLS-CSB seal must be regarded with utmost respect. This manual lists down the parameters in using the DLS-CSB logo. A “signature” is the combination of the logo and the official name of the institution. There are specifics on what type of font, the placement of such elements in a grid system, colors, etc. that shall be discussed in this document. About the College Seal 1 2 The singular logos in the three allowed colors: Pantone 349 Full Black Reverse on black or Pantone 349 The logo block is the combination of the logo and the name of the school: The official colors are Pantone 349, black and white. Gold is used for certificates and awards. This is pantone 349. It is chosen for its variant shade of green identified with Lasallian schools. Please note that this color will react differently when printed on coated paper as opposed to matte paper stock. The horizontal block/signature is the combination of the logo and the name of the school: Logo /school name information and usage rules These are the acceptable manifestations of the DLS-CSB Logo: 4 If the address of DLS-CSB (and the campus, if necessary) is included, nudge the name a bit upward making the ridge aligned with the bottom part of the letters. Emboss and shadowing effects may be applied, if approved by the MCO. DO NOT do the following: • DLS-College of Saint Benilde • De La Salle-College of St. Benilde • DLS - CSB (no space between) • Applying curves, arc and warping effects to the college name. Logo /school name information and usage rules These are the acceptable manifestations of the DLS-CSB signature: 7 DLS-CSB Logo Grid The DLS-CSB grid shows the accurate proportions and spacings of the two elements of the college signature. The grid scale serves as a guide so that reproduction will be exact and in accurate proportion especially when the signature is to be resized manually. x 4x x 4x The number of squares indicated for the height and width of the college logo or college signature is always constant regardless of the size. The logo and the logotype must always follow the proportion shown in the DLS-CSB grid when reducing or enlarging the college signature. Logo /school name information and usage rules Shown in the following pages are the grids of the DLS-CSB logo, and the horizontal and vertical orientations of the college signature. Vertical Orientation of the College Signature 17x 6.75x 3.5x 6.75x 5.25x College Signature Block Orientation 3.5x 3.5x 5x 0.5x 3.5x 1.25x De La Salle11x College of Saint Benilde De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde 0.5x Horizontal Orientation of the College Signature 21x 3.5x 3.5x 17x De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde 0.5x 1.25x 8 Please note that the College name is presented in either: DLS-CSB Logo Grid • One straight line: De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde or De La SalleCollege of Saint Benilde • Two-tiered lines: ^ This format is applicable only for lack of space. • Four-tiered lines: In a four-tiered college signature, the logo must be aligned with the letter “D.” It should also follow the official font, with “De La Salle-” smaller by at most 2 points to the “College of Saint Benilde” (There is no need to manually do it, since the white block logo already does it). DO NOT do the following: • Four-tiered line: Placing the logo in a centered configuration. If it’s a signage for a building: is acceptable. All caps is also allowed. { { De La SalleCollege of Saint Benilde Logo /school name information and usage rules < But only if the logo is present 9 De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies Primary font is still Abadi, secondary is Arial, at least 2 points smaller than the school name. • If there are only two factors involved (ex. DLSCSB and internal office/school), please place the DLS-CSB logo on the right, while the other logo on the left. The name of the college must always come first than or on top of the school or office, separated with or without a line. • Consider close spacing of the school name to the logos (not more than one centimeter) It is imperative that the logos have the equal height, despite the different configuration, say, DLS-CSB logo is circular, while SDEAS’ logo is vertically rectangular. A school logo is not designated by the MCO. The schools can develop their own logo, font, signature, but must have MCO’s approval before finalization. Always place the DLS-CSB logo on the right side if there are any other logos that accompany the event, whether it be for internal or external purpose. For a DLS-CSB logo placed within a list of sponsoring logos, make sure that it does not stand besides any internal school, department or organization logo. DLS-CSB is a higher entity and not of the same level with its schools, department or organization. Logo /school name information and usage rules On an instance when the school has to be designated with their own logo, these are the guidelines. 10 • Do not use colors that are not designated as official for the logo. The official colors used, be it Pantone 349 or black or white, and must be rendered in 100% solid color. • Do not severely tilt the block logo and the signature. If possible just place the block logo as is. However, if the designer needs dynamism, the allowed maximum tilt of a logo is from the range of -200 to 200, anything beyond that renders the logo difficult to identify/read. This tilting is only allowed with the block logo, signature (the logo + name of the college) and not the DLS-CSB seal. • Do not tilt nor rotate the seal of DLS-CSB. • Do not truncate or change the shape of the DLS-CSB logo. (TIP: Make sure that the circle portion of the logo is perfectly round) High resolution copies of the offical logos and font are available at the Marketing and Communications Office.
