1. General Product Description
Simply spoken, BENDA-LUTZ® DEPUVAL is a non dusting aluminium powder.
BENDA-LUTZ® DEPUVAL Aluminium non dusting denominates a complete product line which consists of aluminium powder
(flake-form) embedded in a matrix built by maximum 0.2% of a micro-net forming chemically inert additive. This combination is
designed to minimize easy dispersion of fine BENDA-LUTZ® aluminium powders have been successfully on the market in
“DEPUVAL”-appearance for several years now.
2. Benefits of DEPUVAL-Pigments (compared to corresponding powder/pastes):
- free of volatile organic compounds (VOC)
- significantly reduced dust cloud explosion risk:
a much higher MIE (minimum ignition energy) was confirmed by a test report of an independent institute (e.g. BENDA-LUTZ®
aluminium powder 2081 <3 mJ => BENDA-LUTZ® DEPUVAL 3081 >500 mJ). Increased values were also found after several
re-dispersions of the same sample in the test set-up. This highlights impressively the efficiency of the de-dusting approach,
since the apparatus is designed for effective dispersion.

3. Fields of Application
The fields of application are depending on the grade or type used and are in general:
Powder Coatings:
DEPUVAL is recommended for mixing processes applying shear forces to the system. Under
such conditions DEPUVAL-grades release the pigment and disperse it into the base powder
coating.
Colouring of Plastics:
Extrusion: Pure pigment without introduction of carrier medium.
Explosives:
Slurry explosives: Safe flake incorporation into the slurry, network supports oxygen
incorporation.
Chemical Industry:
Lubricant; TiO2-production, …
Paints:
2-component epoxy coating solvent-free, floor coating systems, corrosion protection paints

5. Product Handling:
The embedding of the aluminium is sufficient to ensure that dust formation cannot occur during transportation or by gentle manual
handling like shovelling. Nevertheless, as a general rule the same precautions should be taken for handling and storage as for
aluminium powders.
