1. Sauvé-Stiftung (Stipendien für Nachwuchsführungskräfte)

Die Sauvé-Stiftung hat auch dieses Jahr wieder bis zu 14 Stipendien für junge Menschen unter 30
ausgeschrieben, die ihre Qualitäten als Nachwuchsführungskräfte in einem acht Monate dauernden
Programm mit Kursen an der McGill University ausbauen wollen. Die Stipendien wurden im
November 2002 von der Jeanne Sauvé Foundation ins Leben gerufen. In den letzten Jahren haben
bereits 74 Stipendiaten aus 39 Ländern das Programm durchlaufen.
Bewerber müssen ein Vordiplom oder ein abgeschlossenes Grundstudium einer Hochschule
nachweisen. Credits können nicht erworben werden. Die absolvierten Arbeiten sollen allerdings zum
Abschluss des Stipendiums auf der Website der Stiftung veröffentlicht werden.
Das Stipendium im Wert von zirka 30.000 Dollar umfasst die Reisekosten, Kost, Logis, die Aufwendungen für Exkursionen und andere Unternehmungen. Interessenten können ihre Bewerbung bis
Ende Dezember einreichen.

2. University of Winnipeg (Forschungsstipendien FB Deutsch-Kanadische Studien sowie

Das Spletzer Family Foundation Inc. German-Canadian Studies Fellowship Program 2009 besteht
erstens aus dem German-Canadian Studies Research Scholarship in Höhe von 9.000 Dollar, das für
ein Jahr für die vielversprechendste Magisterarbeit vergeben wird. Die Arbeit muss sich mit
deutschsprachigen Immigranten und ihren Nachkommen in Kanada oder mit der Geschichte und der
Art und Weise des Austauschs zwischen Deutschland und Kanada befassen. Bewerben können sich
Studierende, die in einem Master-Studiengang eingeschrieben und bereit sind, den Großteil ihrer
Forschung der MA-Arbeit in Kanada durchzuführen.
Das zweite Programm sieht ein Stipendium von 2.500 Dollar vor. Forscher und Forscherinnen können
es im Rahmen des German-Canadian Studies Research Grant erhalten, wenn sie eine Arbeit zu den
kanadisch-deutschen Beziehungen oder über deutsche Einwanderer in Kanada schreiben. Bewerben
können sich Forscher und Forscherinnen, Studierende, Privatpersonen, Forschungsteams oder
Hochschüler und Hochschülerinnen der 12. Klasse. Wie in jedem zweiten Jahr gibt es auch 2009 ein
Doktoranden-Stipendium, das mit 13.000 Dollar dotiert ist. Die Doktorarbeit muss sich mit dem
gleichen Thema befassen wie das Master- und das Forschungs-Stipendium. Bewerben können sich
Doktoranden aus Ländern außerhalb Kanadas, die bereit sind, einen erheblichen Teil ihrer
Forschungsarbeit in Kanada durchzuführen und in dieser Zeit mit einem Mitarbeiter einer kanadischen
Universität zusammenzuarbeiten.
Darüber hinaus vergibt die Spletzer Family Foundation einen Essay-Preis, der mit 500 Dollar dotiert
ist. Der German-Canadian Studies Undergraduate Essay Prize richtet sich an UndergraduateStudents kanadischer Universitäten.
Alle Beiträge außer dem Essay müssen bis zum 15. März eingereicht sein. Beiträge zum

3. University of Alberta (Stipendien für Summer School)

The Provost's International Summer School Award is awarded to students with satisfactory
academic standing (GPA 2.0 or higher) registered as visiting international fee-paying students in the
Summer School. Canadian and permanent residents are not eligible. Value of award up to a
maximum of $5000 cdn. covers tuition and fees for 2 courses, living allowance (accommodation &
food), textbook budget, mandatory health insurance and reimbursement of application fee. Ten
awards will be offered. Recipients can not also recieve a "where the world meets" Award. Selection
based on application submission including written personal statement. Where possible, awards will be
distributed to faciliate the geographic diversity of qualified applicants.
