Ersterer ist bei dem neuen Taschenshop des Schweizer Labels Freitag in Wien Neubau so gut wie vorprogrammiert. Die bunten Taschen aus alten LKW-Planen, die zur Grundausstattung eines urbanen, stil- aber auch umweltbewussten Großstädters gehören, passen perfekt in die Neubaugasse. Es wundert fast, dass sich die erfolgreichen Brüder Markus und Daniel Freitag nicht schon längst ebendort mit einer Dependance niedergelassen haben. Unweit der alternativen Modemeile Lindengasse eröffnet heute, Freitag, der erste Freitag-Flagshipstore Wiens. Dort wo früher Modelleisenbahnen verkauft wurden, werden nun auf rund 120 Quadratmetern 1600 Taschen präsentiert. „Ich habe das Gefühl, dass die Ecke hier passt“, sagt Markus Freitag, während er stolz durch den neuen Shop führt. Ausgewählt hat er den Standort – wie alle fünf in den Nachbarländern auch – bei einer Bezirksinspektion mit dem Fahrrad. Immerhin sind ja auch die Taschen alle fahrradtauglich. Im Geschäft vermitteln die unverputzten Wände Industriecharme, in Papierschubladen werden die verschiedenen Taschen der ursprünglichen „Fundamental“-Kollektion gelagert. Wer das nötige Kleingeld besitzt, kann sich hier etwa einen großen Rucksack aus alten LKW-Planen um 260 Euro kaufen. Seit September vertreibt Freitag allerdings nicht nur die typischen bunten Umhängetaschen aus Plastik-planen, sondern unter dem Namen „Reference“ eine „normale“ Taschenkollektion – sozusagen die erwachsenen Freitag-Taschen.
