Highlight 2006: City of
Irbil, Iraq
One year after our successful Kuwait
project, GEOCART has been awarded
to carry out an even more challenging
survey task:
The mapping and geodetic processing
of Irbil, a city located in the peaceful
area of Nothern Iraq.
Far away from the home location in
Germany the task was to acquire
What seemed to be quite feasible was
in actual fact a mixture of complicated
logistic activities, required permissions
and geodetic processes.
The flight and control point planning
was determined beforehand using
google earth and more precise satellite
data. Complex flight permissions and
local visas needed to be obtained, as
well as the flawless combination of the
different systems.
Once again the most important thing
regarding such a project: not only the
photo flight was done by our crew.
They were also responsible for the
marking and measurement of the
ground control points, the installation
and running of a longterm GPS
reference station along with various
other geodetic services.
All the required equipment was transported in the Cessna, on site installed
and the data transmitted immediately
to be validated at our home office. Two
weeks in Nothern Iraq was all it took to
survey more than 20,000 hectares.
Back in Germany, three months of
intensive photogrammetric work were
needed to derive a precise hight model
and street cadaster.
With our experts in Irbil and all the
technical capacities at home, another
challenging project had been expertly
mastered. This demonstrates once
more that the control of all processes
carried out by well trained experts
guarantees a successful project.

Photogrammetrische
Geodatenfortführung
Ballungsräume wie z. B. das Ruhrgebiet oder auch der Düsseldorfer Raum
in NRW sind gekennzeichnet durch
eine stark belastete Verkehrsinfrastruktur. Bevor Baumaßnahmen z. B.
in das Straßennetz für die Verkehrsteilnehmer sichtbar werden, steht die
Entwurfsplanung auf der Basis hochgenauer Lage- und Höhendaten im
Pflichtenheft der Ingenieure. Aktuelle
Daten, photogrammetrisch in kürzester
Zeit lieferbar, sind dabei unerlässlich.
Im Rahmen der Geodatenfortführung
gehört die Integration unterschiedlichster Datenbestände mittlerweile zum
Standardumfang unseres Hauses.
Dabei stellen Inhomogenitäten innerhalb vorhandener Datentypen und
Datenstrukturen hohe Anforderungen
an die photogrammetrische Geodatenfortführung. Mit Software-Schnittstellen
sind keine Lösungen zu erwarten. Es
muss vielmehr ein integraler, methodischer Ansatz gewählt werden.

Testflights with digital

Im vorliegenden Beispiel des Autobahnkreuzes Kaarst (NRW) wurden
terrestrische Bestandsdaten in die
Auswertung integriert, validiert sowie
Höhendaten zum DHM und für Lärmschutzbelange erfasst. Abschließende
Feldvergleiche inklusive ergänzender
Ingenieurvermessungen
vervollständigten den homogenen Datenbestand
zur Entwurfsplanung.

Analogue or digital? A simple question
that is not easy to be answered yet.
Beside marketing guys who give you
very quick explanations on a complex
theme, GEOCART is focussing his investigations on the interaction of each
single photogrammetric case. Therefore we are testing digital mapping
systems under everyday conditions. In
an early stadium of development every
new system has pros and cons which
have to be evaluated.
We are not only willing to give nice
pictures but real geodetic advantages
to our customers. Our products and
services fulfil quality standards that are
acquired in 40 years of surveying
experience. Every new system has to
meet this standards. Radiometric and
geometric properties as well as hightaccuracy, reliability and system integration are under review.
In our fast moving environment it is
extremely important to introduce new
systems at the right time without
forcing end-users to be involuntary test
subjects. And keep in mind:
We will be there at the right time!

van het te bewerken gebied momenteel nog groter is dan van een digitaal
systeem.
In België zijn wij het enige bedrijf geweest die een Provinciale fotovlucht in
het voorjaar volledig uitgevoerd heeft.
De Provincie Vlaams-Brabant is nu
klaar om gekarteerd te worden.
Vliegseizoen Nederland
en België 2006
Niet alleen de Irakese stad Erbil wordt
door ons bedrijf in 2006 met behulp
van luchtfoto’s gekarteerd.
Ook Nederlandse en Belgische klanten
zijn al jaren tevreden opdrachtgevers.
Dit jaar hoorden bijvoorbeeld de gemeenten Almelo, Bergeijk, Doetinchem
en Cranendonck tot onze vliegdoelen.
In dit nieuwsblad treft u een uitsnede
van de mooie plaats Cranendonck
aan. Buitenlanders denken vaak dat
Nederlandse huizen steeds klein zijn,
maar als u op de hierboven staande
uitsnede kijkt, zult u constateren dat er
in Nederland zeer prettige woonlocaties zijn.
Het vliegweer was moeilijk dit voorjaar.
Met onze analoge luchtopnamen zijn
wij in staat om grote gebieden vlug te
karteren, omdat de afbeeldingsvlakte
Jubiläum:
40 Jahre GEOCART
Im Juni dieses Jahres war es soweit:
Die Mitarbeiter aus Herten und Halle
konnten das 40-jährige Firmenjubiläum
gebührend feiern.
Gemäß der sportlichen Ausrichtung
unserer Mitarbeiter hatten wir ein CartTeamrennen organisiert. Die Sieger
auf der Straße waren gleichzeitig die
Herren der Lüfte: Pilot und Navigator
siegten auf der Piste und nahmen anschließend die Kollegen mit zu Rundflügen über das Ruhrgebiet und zum
Fallschirmspringen.
Tatsächlich konnten sich zwölf Wagemutige überwinden, die Cessna Grand
Caravan bereits in der Luft zu verlassen und waren allesamt begeistert
von der Erfahrung und den luftigen
Eindrücken.
Sicher gelandet stehen Ihnen unsere
Experten somit auch in Zukunft für
interessante Projekte zur Verfügung.

Airport surveying:
Leipzig-Halle international
Waterschap Rivierenland goedgekeurd
The international airport Leipzig-Halle
is building a new takeoff and landing
south runway. As part of the new
construction program, the 3,600 metre
long south runway will be built parallel
to the northern runway, of the same
length.
The new construction site with a total
investment volume of 290 million euros
and a surface area of 140 hectares will
be finished within two years.
Het oostelijke deel van het beheersgebied van het Waterschap Rivierenland werd door ons bedrijf in drie
dimensies gekarteerd, de leggerinformatie naverkend en met behulp van
GIS gestructureerd.
Meer dan 6.000 km watergangen en
ongeveer 20.000 kunstwerken zoals
duikers, stuwen of bruggen worden op
basis van een fotovlucht met in totaal
1.750 opnames uitgewerkt.
In het voorjaar van 2006 is het gehele
project door onze opdrachtgever goedgekeurd.
In 2005 our office in Halle has been
selected to do all the surveying that is
necessary to guarantee a successful
course of construction events.

the building site are progressing fast.
Our engineers are not only surveying
in the fields but also transferring the
data in a three dimensional GIS.
We are very pleased that we play an
important surveying part of such an
outstanding construction.
