TITAN TRIBUNE – May 8, 2015 From the Superintendent’s Desk By Dr. Lowery Superintendent End of the Year Recommendation The end of the school year brings excitement, relief, tears, and sometimes a little anxiety. Change and transition is a part of life and we all deal with it a little differently. Students of all ages will be experiencing this transition over the next two weeks and we all need to be aware of their heightened emotions. Even if their emotion is relief for the time being, I encourage you to put yourself in their shoes and consider how you would feel if your job and days as you know it was coming to an end. Waking-up early, preparing for assessments, and having the consistency of school and a schedule are often dreaded but truly a blessing as it prepares us for life. Although the opportunity to truly talk to your child is often limited by the business of life and perhaps an “Ok, love you Mom (Dad), I am going to go play with my friends” attitude, seek an opportunity to visit with them about them. These conversations are important no matter the child’s age and will be treasured by you forever. If a conversation does not avail itself, write your child an age appropriate letter and place it on their pillow.
