General Description
Advantages:
Following on the big success of the Leo I, we have designed and produced a
much more evolved housing, under every aspect of the design, functionality &
versatility.
The underwater housing Leo II is born to be used with all the reflex DSRLs on the
market; thanks to the revolutionary electronic FotoControl USB keypad (see
image 1) which allows to remotely control all the principal commands of the
digital reflex cameras, LEO II is the only universal housing actually in the market.
This way eliminates the necessity to manufacture personalized mechanic keypad
and control happens simply connecting the USB cable to the camera. This creates
the enormous advantage of acquiring a housing extremely versatile and utilising
even in case of purchasing, in time, a new camera.
The FotoControl USB keypad has, in brief, the following advantages:
1. With 1 single hole on the housing it is possible to control remotely from the
outside of the housing all the commands of the Digital SLRs cameras
2. In the event of
purchasing a new
camera, the housing
is re-usable
3. The problems with
mechanic leverage
shutters of the
traditional housings
do not exist as the
commands are
electronic wet
contacts and not
mechanic with
springs.
4. It is much simpler
Image 2
to use the housing,
even wearing gloves
(i.e. to adjust shutter speed and aperture it is sufficient to press a single button
+ o –).
5. The more demanding people
could manage 2 Fotocontrol USB
keypads, having therefore the
possibility to implement the
commands depending on the
exigencies of the available
functions on the camera owned.
6. Maintenance is limited to the
very basic minimum.
The basic standard configuration
sees the LEO housing complete of
FotoControl USB keypad which
allows to manage the following
commands: shutter speed +/-,
aperture +/-, autofocus, autofocus
+ Shutter (pushing first autofocus
and then autofocus-shutter to
recompose the shot the focus
remain unchanged allowing this
practical operation), ISO +/-,
Image 1 Fotocontrol USB Keypad
mode, exposure compensation
and other personalized functions depending on the camera own with an add-on
keypad (optional). Furthermore the standard configuration includes: a flash
connection Nikonos 5/6 pin depending on the camera type, the zoom command
to adjust the zoom lenses focus (not the lenses gear) and a double cast
aluminium handle with preset bayonet for attaching the flash arms (see imagine
2).

cameras on the market (Image 3).

Thanks to the modification of the
internal sledge, to the possibility
of quickly changing the front port
to allow to insert different types
of lenses, to the special tubes,
and finally thanks to its
maximum safety (double o-ring
in every possible water entry),
the Leo II is the most versatile
and trustworthy housing for SLR
Ports/Domes: The LEO II foresees among all the accessories 6 components
which allow utilizing the most available lenses on the market. A optical glass flat
port, 1 spherical dome (EasydomePX) in polymetacrilic, 1 glass spherical Dome
(Easydome CR), 2 extension tubes (Extension 30, Extension 40,) which installed
with a Flat or spherical Port allow to utilize different lenses, and an extension
tube zoom Extension 40 Zoom to control the zoom of wide angle lenses or the
focus on other lenses.
Not only Photos: The even more revolutionary news which makes the LEO II a
unique and indispensable piece of equipment is that it can hold inside, besides
the camera, also a small video camera, it is sufficient to add a kit made up of a
2° keypad with regards to managing its own commands and a 2° sledge
dedicated to its lodging. For videoing it is possible to make use of the rear optical
viewfinder or equip the housing with an external monitor of 16:9 complete of
rapid insertion connector.
NB. In case of a future purchase of a new camera body, the change of the
software and of the sledge has an indicative cost of only € 150/200 depending on
the time needed to re adapt the housing to the new camera.

COMPATIBILITY
Insert batteries and press the container into his original position securing it over
the Velcro straps.
CANON EOS, NIKON, PENTAX, SONY, FUJI and many others
Contact us to verify if your camera is compatible.
Turn on the circuit board through its own switch and ensure that the commands
of the keypad work prior to proceed with the other operations.
Use Modality
The Leo II has a sledge in which the digital camera has to be firmly fixed to.
Open the housing by releasing the locking latches, extract the sledge from the
housing and align the hole for connection to the tripod found at the base of the
camera with the screw of the sledge. With an adapt screwdriver tighten the screw
enough not to permit any movement, avoiding to over tighten it. Excessive
tightening could damage either the screw or the sledge (see image 4 e 5)
Inserting the camera into the Leo II housing.
Imagine 6
To verify that the batteries are fully
Imagine 7
charged it is sufficient to watch that
green LED of the USB interface flashes
quickly (many times per second),
this signals that the batteries are fully
charged, the absence of this signal means that they are discharged and the
functioning is no longer guaranteed. The green LED means “active connection”,
the red LED indicates “connection not functioning”
(See image here below and above shown by the harrows)

System FCUSB
The system FCUSB is made up of an interface USB set inside the housing which is
powered by two Ultimate Lithium AA batteries max 3V (not provided). We
recommend this batteries as they provide a constant 3V right to the end and
therefore always guarantee a perfect use. This interface allows to remotely
controlling all the commands of all the Digital SLRs through the external keypad.
In order to insert the batteries extract the battery container from the housing
pulling out in order to separate it from the Velcro straps (see image 6 & 7):

Assembly Procedure
Imagine 8
Verify from the Camera Menu that the USB output is set to PTP (where
necessary, in some cameras this is not necessary)
Insert the mini USB connector of the interface to the camera (see image
below)
N.B. To take photos verify that inside the viewfinder of the camera you
can see the word PC. When you have taken a photo, the image remains
constantly on the display until any button on the keypad is pressed. At
this point the camera will reconnect to the board and inside the display
appears again the word PC. At this point it is possible to take another
photo or change settings
Disable the Auto-Sleep from the menu of the camera before closing and
sealing the housing verify the cleanliness of the O-Rings.
Insert the remote shutter control to the camera (see image 9), (where
provided, in some cameras this is not necessary)
Switch on the circuit board of the interface through its switch
Switch the camera on
Verify after a few seconds that the LED of the interface flashes
Verify the functioning of the keypad: the green LED flashing indicates
“correct functioning”, the red LED indicates “command transmission”
Insert Hotshoe cable for the flash command in the camera’s ’Hotshoe”
Image 9
Position the camera inside of the housing verifying that it is sitting in its
correct position
Insert all the cabling inside the housing, verifying that do not obstruct
the perfect sealing of the two O-Ring or that are going to be caught
between the rear part of the housing and the closing panel, avoiding the
perfect closure and watertight of the housing (see image 9)
