Maximizing Your Client’s
Access to Health Care:
Changes Are Coming
Complimentary Half Day Conference
About the Faculty
BRIAN CAMERON completed his LLB at the University of
Western Ontario and was called to the Bar in 2001. He
joined Oatley Vigmond in 1999 and became a partner in
2008. Brian represents people who have sustained
serious injuries and the families of those who have died.
His practice focuses on resolving claims arising from
motor vehicle collisions, boating injuries, occupiers'
liability claims and product liability issues.
Brian enjoys the complexities of personal injury
litigation, but when it gets right down to it, he finds cases
where the help he provides actually makes a difference in
the quality of his clients' lives the most gratifying.
When asked what he likes most about practicing personal
injury law, Brian states that he enjoys sharing a person's
life story, from before they were injured, with the Jury so
that they can see that contrast as compelling evidence of
how the Defendant drastically changed that individual's
life.
NICK GUREVICH is the co-founder and Executive Director
of FunctionAbility. In this capacity he oversees
operations and sets the strategic direction of the
company. Prior to founding FunctionAbility, Nick spent
over a decade in the Investment Banking and Private
Equity sector. He has completed numerous investments
and acquisitions on behalf of a subsidiary of Scotiabank.
While in the financial sector, Nick served on the Board of
Directors of over a dozen companies. Nick is the former
Chair of the Board of Directors of the Brain Injury Society
of Toronto (BIST), current Member of the ABI Network
Advisory Board, Member of the Finance Committee at
the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT)
and a founding member of the Alliance of Community
Medical and Rehabilitation Providers.
In the community Nick is involved with the Hospital for
Sick Children Leaders Program and acts as a mentor for
students at York University's Schulich School of
Business.
ROBERT DURANTE is a partner at Oatley Vigmond, Rob is
committed to helping clientsobtain the compensation they
deserve. He finds working on and resolving cases that
involve the death of a family member the most gratifying.
While compensation can never provide solace to the
surviving family members, bringing the case to a successful
resolution often provides a sense of justice and closure for
family members, who can then go on to begin the healing
process.
Rob advocates for seriously injured clients and for families
who have lost a loved one due to negligence. He also
focuses on accident benefits claims, disability claims and
product liability claims.
requires creativity, dedication, perseverance, and hard
work. He strives to apply those qualities on behalf of all
his clients. Before joining Oatley, Vigmond in 2005, Adam
worked with a leading Toronto litigation firm, where he
represented physicians in malpractice claims and
regulatory proceedings.
A graduate of Queen's University Faculty of Law (2000)
and the University of Toronto (1996), Adam has dedicated
his practice to obtaining compensation for motor vehicle
accidents, medical negligence, occupiers' liability claims
and other insurance disputes.
For Jim, the clients' right to fair compensation is the
pillar of his deep commitment to improving the lives of
injured persons and their families.
ADAM LITTLE is a partner at Oatley Vigmond. He is Past
President of the Simcoe County Law Association and a
Certified Specialist in Civil Litigation. Adam believes that
achieving exceptional results in personal injury claims
He has been voted by his peers as among the Best
Lawyers in Canada from 2006 to 2015, is a Certified
Litigation Specialist by the Law Society of Upper Canada,
a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, and a
Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
What Troy enjoys most about personal injury law is that he
is working as part of a team to help rebuild lives following
catastrophe. As a personal injury lawyer working for
seriously injured clients, Troy's job is to help restore
meaningful lives.
JAMES L. VIGMOND is the former President of the
Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, and continues to be a
leading figure of Ontario's personal injury trial Bar. At
Oatley Vigmond, Jim leads a team of lawyers and
support staff with broad expertise in spinal cord injury,
brain injury and serious orthopaedic cases.
Josie enjoys outdoor sports of all kinds and is a certified
yoga instructor.
Troy takes great satisfaction in helping seriously injured
people and their families through difficult times. The cases
that Troy finds most gratifying are the difficult cases where
there is a need to be especially creative and determined to
obtain the compensation that his clients need. His
satisfaction comes when he has helped make a real
difference in someone's life in a situation that looked bleak
in the beginning.
As an Accident Benefits Specialist, Josie provides prompt
and effective assistance with accessing insurance
benefits to which clients are entitled following auto
collisions. She helps assemble a reliable community
rehabilitation and long term care team for our clients.
TROY LEHMAN is a graduate of the University of Western
Ontario law school. Troy was called to the Bar in 2001. He
received the highest mark on the Bar admission course from
Western University. Troy joined Oatley Vigmond in 2006 and
became partner in 2010.
JOSIE SKELLY has been working in the legal industry
since 1987. She joined Oatley Vigmond in 1995 as a
Senior Law Clerk, having developed expertise in
demonstrative evidence applications, particularly in the
areas of mediation and trial preparation. She was drawn
to accident benefits as she longed to provide hands on
support to clients and their families.
The best part of practicing personal injury law for Rob is
helping people and making a difference in their lives. "I keep
all of the Thank You cards I receive from clients over the
years. I have a cabinet full of Thank You cards to remind me
that the work we do changes lives, for the better."
