Per s The Pfingstberg Ensemble Experience the most beautiful view of Potsdam on the Pfingstberg, at a height over 100 meters, set amidst Prussian architecture and landscape gardening. The ensemble comprised of the Belvedere Palace, the Temple of Pomona and the park grounds belongs to the Stiftung Preußische Schlösser und Gärten Berlin-Brandenburg and is part of a unique landscape of UNESCO World Heritage palaces and parks in Potsdam and Berlin. Belvedere Frederick William IV realized his romantic dream in the Belvedere, creating what is undisputedly the most beautiful view over Potsdam and the Havel lakes across to Berlin. The romantic and classically-styled palace, built from 1847-63 by the architects L. Persius, F. Stüler and L. F. Hesse according to the king's plans, radiates a unique atmosphere of tranquility and grandeur through its arcades, colonnades, galleries and two observation towers. The Temple of Pomona The Temple of Pomona, completed in 1801, is regarded as the first building constructed by the young architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The building, once designed as a tea pavilion, took its name to honor “Pomona,” the Roman goddess who blessed the fruit crop. Gardens In 1863, Peter Joseph Lenné encircled the historical buildings on the Pfingstberg with a landscape garden designed in the English style. You can stroll as far as the New Garden over a winding, downward slope while allowing yourself to be surprised by the ever-changing points of view.
