Honmoku Jinja wurde im Jahre
1192 gegründet. Der
ursprüngliche Schrein
(Honmoku Juni Ten Ja) stand
am damaligen Ufer der Bucht
von Tokyo. Der ursprüngliche
Schrein wurde während der
Luftangriffe im Zweiten
Weltkrieg zerstört. Honmoku
Jinja wurde im Jahr 1954 an
einer anderen Stelle wieder
aufgebaut. Schließlich, im Jahr
1993 an ihren jetzigen Standort
verlegt.

The hills of Yamate, with the
foreign settlement, have seen
the changes in Yokohama over
time and were strongly
connected to historical events at
the opening of the port. Many
beautiful western houses on the
hillside disappeared in the
Great Kanto Earthquake (1923).
Those existing were mostly built
after the earthquake. Seven of
these western houses are
preserved by the city and open
to the public to give people a
taste of history.

Utsunomiya, then a
local train to Nikko.
For others, the
private Tobu Nikko
line from Asakusa is
more convenient.
