EZEKIEL 1:10 “Their faces looked like this: Each of the four had the face of a human being, and on the right side each had the face of a lion, and on the left the face of an ox; each also had the face of an eagle.” The Bible – Today’s New International Version THE EAGLE – THE KING OF THE AIR ... sees eight times sharper than we humans do ... sees a mouse on the ground from 3km above ... in a dive it gets as fast as 300 km per hour ... reaches heights of up to 7500 metres … a pair of eagles remain together for a lifetime and inhabit a permanent area PUT YOUR PICTURE IN THE PICTURE FRAME EZEKIEL 17:3 “Say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: A great eagle with powerful wings, long feathers and full plumage of varied colors came to Lebanon.” The Bible – Today’s New International Version YOU WILL BECOME WHAT YOU SEE GENESIS 12:2 “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.” The Bible – Today’s New International Version BELIEVE WHAT YOU SEE INWARDLY HEBREWS 11:1 “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” The Bible – Today’s New International Version © 2013, ICF ZÜRICH | WWW.ICF.CH SHARING / REFLECTION Become aware that we are at the beginning of an 8-part series on the topic “vision”. The coming two months are here for you to develop your personal vision with God. As a group ask the following questions and search for answers using the mentioned Bible verses. Where exactly does a personal vision come from? - Proverbs 3:32b (if possible look at various translations) - Genesis 18:17 (What applies to Abraham, also applies to us. For with God it is not about the reputation of the person Romans 2:11) - Psalm 25:14 (Fear = Awe) - additional Bible verses from the group? A personal vision is bases on a combination: studying the Bible and a relationship of trust with God. On a scale from 1-10: Where do you stand in relation to the topic “vision”? (1 = no relation, 5 = partial notion in individual areas of life, 10 = clear notion) Support each other in the developing of the vision with the following questions: What do you desire for your future with God? What picture should be in your picture frame? What do you dream of? Today your “time of breeding your vision” starts! This means to breed with the Holy Spirit about your personal vision every day. “...,meditate on it day and night, ...“ Joshua 1:8b Be courageous to already speak out your vision at the beginning of the “time of breeding”. “...,God said, ‘Let there be light’.” Genesis 1:3 APPLICATION AND PRAYER The following prayer from Paul fits very well to the conclusion of your meeting. You can pray this proclaiming it to each other or just let it sink in personally. For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all his people, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength. The eagle, a powerful bird and the king of the air. Over and over again the Bible uses the image of an eagle to make God’s ideas for our lives visible. The sight and the flying characteristics of the eagle represent the vision and strength. This series encourages us to discover God’s vision for our lives anew. Best wishes, Your small group team Preparation: Test your goals: (1) The goal of the small groups is to help people strengthen their personal relationship with Jesus and to live in real fellowship with one another. (2) Which people in my small group do I encourage to be leaders? Which opportunities to practice do I provide for them? (3) What goal do I set for the small group meeting? Apply these three values to your small group: Community, experiencing God, multiplication (internal and external growth). Consider how these three values are put into practice in the next small group meeting. Pray for your small group: - Pray for your members and their concerns. - Pray that each has an encounter with God and that you may all achieve your goals together. - Consciously submit yourself under God’s leadership so that the evening may take place according to His will. Plan your small group meeting: - Consider what you will delegate (administration, hospitality/food, prayer, worship, input …). - All should be informed where and when the meeting is taking place. Communication is a matter Of leadership! Count on God’s presence: “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.” Matthew 18:20 © 2013, ICF ZÜRICH | WWW.ICF.CH
