The spa hotel Niki Club is spread over the Yokozawa area, an especially scenic place at the foot of the Nasu Plateau.
With the pretty Futaai River flowing past and birds singing, the beautiful place lends itself to deep relaxation on the
facility’s extensive 140,000m² site. This area is also attracting attention as an art village, with artistic facilities
including the event stage Kagami, the Kankikan multipurpose hall and the Art Biotop Nasu art studio, scattered
throughout the area. Spend some quality relaxing time here – it’s even better than staying in your own private villa.
Niki Club is a healing resort hotel that has been offering unique hospitality and entertainment for sophisticated
guests who understand the value of authenticity since the hotel opened in 1986. During your stay, feel free to leave
the decisions to your own whim – do something, or do nothing, whichever you please. Write a card in your own
hand, read a book, explore the surrounding woods and let time take care of itself.
Experience glass art and pottery making, available in cooperation with nearby Art Biotop Nasu. We hope you will
come and enjoy all four seasons in this place where art and culture, filled with creativity, are born.
NIKI CLUB 1986 (Niki Club’s main building)
A fusion of nature, architecture and food – Niki Club’s main building, Niki Club 1986, is modeled after an
Auberge, a place to stay and enjoy relaxing ambience and exquisite meals. Feel the four seasons in the forest in
Yokozawa. Take a quiet moment and listen to the soft swishing of the leaves and the rustling of the animals.
After spending a peaceful time, enjoy our Niki Cuisine, with carefully selected ingredients prepared with
special care by our chefs.
The main building is constructed of Oya-ishi (an igneous rock) and pinewood, with the entire building kept low-rise, the better to
harmonize with nature. The building’s unique configuration of layered oya-ishi and tiled roof create a dignified and magnanimous
air. The surface of the stone is finished by skilled craftsmen, and architect Akira Watanabe has designed the building in exquisite,
flawless detail to project a feeling of human warmth.
The lounge in the main building was created by interior designer Motomi Kawakami. For the main and annex buildings,
completed in 1997, “space designer” Takashi Sugimoto was appointed.
In the beginning, we started collaborating with designers in the early stage of their careers, people who can now appropriately be
called leaders in the field. This collaboration provided beautifully designed interiors that have helped us establish our position as a
leader among small luxury hotels.

NIKI CLUB & SPA (Niki Club’s East Building)
Niki club & Spa is the first hotel in Asia designed by Conran & Partners, led by Sir Terence Conran. The
famous hotelier designed Niki Club & Spa to let nature rejuvenate your body and mind.
Tucked away inside a vast forest, Niki Club & Spa offers a chance to refresh your body and your mind,
whether relaxing in our spa, lounging in your private pavilion, or enjoying a meal with an abundance of fresh,
local vegetables. Relax and converse with friends, or just bask in the quiet serenity of nature.
Our East Building is constructed of natural, unfinished concrete with wooden louvres, known as
pavilion-style. The building stands quietly in the woods, and is designed to maintain privacy, while at the
same time allowing positive communication among the guests.
Enjoy our massage and Spa offerings with natural ingredients in the lush forest, and bring your mind and
body to optimum health with meals made of an abundance of fresh vegetables.
Nikissimo Spa
Experience naturopathy that slowly revives all five senses.
Nature has a way of guiding us toward feelings of comfort and peace, whether through the bubbling of a river or the
twittering of a bird. At Niki Club, guests are offered the opportunity to combine nature’s ability to soothe with the
cleansing effects of massages and spa treatments conducted entirely with natural ingredients, for a detoxification
experience that fully employs the powers of nature. Refresh all five senses through naturopathy, a practice based in
the natural curative powers of plants. Our therapists offer massages conducted with original aromatic oil blends
extracted from natural ingredients, all while you submerge yourself in the serene natural surroundings of Yokozawa.
The Niki Club & Spa building houses a rotemburo outdoor bath with a view of the surrounding forests. The
natural onsen hot spring water contains large amounts of iron, making it highly restorative, easy to heat and slow to
cool. This makes it ideal for soothing nerve and muscle pain, as well as treating cuts and burns. Experience it
together with our mist and dry saunas (women only) and herbal baths to refresh your entire body.
Guest Rooms
Garden Restaurant
Niki Club has rooms to meet every need. Our maisonette-style suite rooms feature an
atrium living room for an airy feeling of openness, a bedroom on the second floor, and a
terrace. Some of the suites have private rotemburo outdoor hot spring baths. We also have
simple one-room types divided into a bedroom and living room with Western-style
furnishings.
A feast for all five senses awaits guests at our Garden Restaurant, which offers spa cuisine
prepared with agrochemical-free vegetables and herbs from our Kitchen Garden and eggs
and cheeses from locally contracted farmers. Try our balanced Spa Plate, rich in carefully
selected ingredients. Our Western-style Spa Breakfast includes offerings such as soups and
salads prepared with vegetables freshly picked each morning in our garden, and Niki Club's
own Jun ( “pure” ) brand of nutritious organic eggs. And experience it all in a space
overlooking the lush natural world just outside the windows.

Kagami
The 5.4m x 5.4m Kagami ( “Mirror” ) stage – constructed of seven stones and mirrored steel, conceived by Seigo
Matsuoka, designed by Hiroshi Naito, and sculpted by Isamu Noguchi collaborator Masatoshi Izumi – has an
elevated look that makes it look like it’s floating between heaven and earth, in front of stands capable of seating up
to 150 people. Everything directly above the stage, from the sky and treetops to the people standing on it, are
shown upside down in the reflective surface of the steel fused between the stones, to express the idea of two
different elements existing together in harmony – such as life and death, or man and woman. The steel forms a
smooth, uninterrupted surface with the seven stones, as if this perfect fusion were completely natural. This quality
of Kagami, as well as the reflected images that change by the season and by the hour, allows it to produce a wide
variety of effects to suit the occasion.
Kankikan
The multipurpose Kankikan sits nestled quietly in an expansive forest, awaiting service as a venue for any kind of
gathering, including weddings, concerts, exhibitions and business gatherings. With its big hall, small hall, bar area
and lounge, Kankikan – its name means “a place to observe the changing seasons” – can accommodate any special
moment. Functions are meticulously planned based on your wishes, with an entirely original and seasonal
contemporary dining menu offered just for the occasion.
Kitchen Garden
Art Biotop Nasu
In order to ensure the highest possible quality and freshness of our natural ingredients, Niki
Club maintains a Kitchen Garden, a homegrown vegetable field on our site. Here we grow
various vegetables and fruits year-round. Fresh vegetables and fruit harvested from the
Kitchen Garden are served in the restaurant the same day, so we can offer the freshest
vegetables for our guests. Niki Club has built a relationship of trust with farmers all over
Japan to ensure the security and safety of our offerings.
Niki Club guests can use the facilities at Art Biotop Nasu, a nearby art center and B&B,
which features a ceramics studio where you can try your hand at hand-built and
wheel-thrown pottery as well as ceramics production, and a glassmaking studio where
guests can practice a wide range of glassmaking techniques, from glass blowing and sand
casting to torch work. A diverse range of workshops are also on offer, ready to instruct and
inspire developing artists.
